I used to go to alt.tv.simpsons- its amazing the details in the episode "reviews"- all the people who would freeze frame for detail, etc.

It may be urban legend, but I pretty much remember the very early days some people would do "worst episode ever"- and later it appeared on show; also people asking how much maggie is scanned at during opening - the question that later appeared on the clip show.

When I had my DirecTV, I could open up a card and get access to every channel. That included all local affiliates across the country. I found that in a 24 hour period at the peak there were 22 hours of back to back simpsons. Sometimes 6 episodes at a time to choose from.

the commentary? it's usually the show runner, sometimes it's the writer or the director. Sometimes Groening sits in (more in the later seasons). I like Al Jean and Mike Reiss, less interested with the later show runner guy--his name escapes me at the moment.

James L Brooks has done a couple, dan castellenetta, julie cavner, nancy cartwright and yeardly smith have done a couple.

Jon Lovitz was on one and all he did was talk about The Stepford Wives...
