My first suggestion is that I'd like to see less threads derailed. I know of a few boards that have a "keep it on topic or it's getting deleted" policy in certain forums. I guess we kind of have that here with "That's Life" but I'd like to see it extend to some other discussions as well.

It gets frustrating when you want to bat around ideas about the show, for example, and all of a sudden the thread becomes "let's hit on _____."

All these ideas being thrown about have their place but do you really think any of them might work? The Mods and Admins don't get paid enough to follow all these rules and it would just cause undue dissension.

Putting all these subjective conditions in place would turn .net into the oppressive site you feared it had become 6 mos. ago.

I'm guilty of derailing threads but that's just the way free-flowing, stream of consciousness, everyday conversation normally works.

Some people havent even finished decorating the tree or bought a present for their mother in law because they spend so much time with their "internet friends" with weird names with nasty things written under them. Chuck, as Hottub said, the mods are enforcing the rules put in place by the people whose site this is, the owners. They don't want nudity on this site and the mods enforce the rules. If you want a site that has nudity, there are plenty out there, including sites that deal with Ron & Fez.

To be fair, we are "The Official Unofficial Website of Ron And Fez." What this means is that we are an independently owned and operated fan site that the boys have adopted as their own in lieu of putting up their own website. Some decisions are unilaterally our decisions (site staff), and some decisions we take into considerations what the show is like and what they would like (this case in point).

Think of it this way, the boys had Johnny's porn reviews and they love beautiful women, but they don't have women performing sex acts on the show itself.

To be fair, we are "The Official Unofficial Website of Ron And Fez." What this means is that we are an independently owned and operated fan site that the boys have adopted as their own in lieu of putting up their own website. Some decisions are unilaterally our decisions (site staff), and some decisions we take into considerations what the show is like and what they would like (this case in point).

Think of it this way, the boys had Johnny's porn reviews and they love beautiful women, but they don't have women performing sex acts on the show itself.

I guess my point is that it's not Hottub or my decision as to whether NSFW was allowed or not. We're following the rules of the site.

I am not sensitive about it, your logic does not work out though.
Nobody would mind if it was renamed or just locked and a part two or new similar thread started.
People really enjoy conversing in it. They are friends many states and time zones apart and this message board is a great way to keep up a friendly conversation amongst friends.
No matter what happens to that thread, a new one would form quickly and if the most active thread is on the front page then that one would end up there too.

It doesn't really dominate the board. It's easy to avoid too. I think the "person above you" threads are pretty dumb, and when they get going they can keep getting bumped a lot too. I've never thought they should cease to exist.

Do other people have that big of a problem with it? I don't particularly find it embarassing, and enough people use it and enjoy it, so that, to me, that it doesn't warrant killing it. In fact, I would guess that it's a minority of people here who have a strong desire to have the thread locked. Under the circumstances, I don't think those are compelling reasons to shut it down. Am I missing something?

The names of the hosts are on the site. They don't control it or profit from it in any way, nor do they want to. This board has always enjoyed a very comfortable friendship with the show, however, and I think that at its best, RonFez.net is an extension of the show. We discuss things brought up on the show, and conversely many times things discussed here are brought up on the show. We share the same sense of humor as the show, and the same nonsense and ball busting that is part of The Ron and Fez show carries over to here. I'm not against any of that.

To me, though, the "Most Recent Discussions" are kind of like the headlines of the day. For the top headline every single day to be about a defunct message board seems a little silly.

Again, just to reiterate, these are just my thoughts and beliefs.
