View Full Version : Escaping Inauguration

My chick and I have decided to get out of the city for Inauguration. It is going to be a madhouse with between 1.5 and 4 million people in attendance. I might try to rent my place out, but I'm real lazy, and so are my roommates.
My question is, where should we go? Neither of us has a car, so we will probably fly somewhere. I checked on rental cars, and prices are ridiculous because of all the people coming into town.
Probably leave Saturday and return Wednesday, Jan. 17-21 so we want somewhere that is a relatively short flight. We don't have a ton of money, so the more affordable, the better.
Suggestions...anyone?

PM Dr. Steve in Tenn. I'm sure he'd love to have you over for the weekend.

NOLA, San Diego, Charleston. Somewhere warm...
I bet you could have the run of the town if you went to Chicago. Place would be empty--you could loot a little and come out ahead.

Head to the shore, off season rentals are ridiculously cheap. Problem is finding one near an airport. There is an airport relatively near myrtle beach I believe.

Come to NY, heck set up a bar night so you can meet some board folk.

You could have an inauguration bar night/afternoon where you all get a nice mid day drunk and watch the events/listen to the show.

I don't think you could get very many people to a bar night on the 17th. (http://ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=75351&) Just a hunch. :innocent:

I was thinking somewhere warm. West coast is too far, so we'd probably be limited to South Florida as somewhere that is actually warm and not bank-breaking.
I was in NYC last weekend for the Christmas party and didn't introduce myself to anyone.

I was hoping someone would make the connection.
