As shitty as this bit was gonna be, why is it that Howard has women getting fucked by machines and all O&A can do is have guys do gay shit? I can live with or without the sex bullshit, but why the double standard?
And why do O&A listen to lawyers? I thought they were toughguys? They're not gonna get fired for a consenting act on uncensored radio no matter how many lawyers it pisses off.

SiriusXM is probably looking for reasons to fire people right now. Lagging economy means less discretionary spending, and that will immediately affect subscriber base. The suits are probably thinking that if you want shock radio, listen to howard or love sponge.

You may be right, but I don't think Ron and Fez are as vulnerable as O&A. Ron and Fez have proven to be viable in 3 different dayparts working both clean and uncensored. They are team players while still maintaining an edge. And I would bet a healthy amount that they are a *very* cost-efficient show, way moreso than O&A

I just finished listening to the replay and I have to say hats off to Opie. He is right. This is uncensored fucking radio. And as other pointed out, Stern is allowed to sex acts on his show, but the second O and A do it, that is a no no. Fuck that. Opie is 100% right for walking off the way that he did.
And a hats off to Anthony and Jimmy for just trying to keep together a little levity there at the end after that uncomfortable moment. Jimmy had me dying laughing talking about leading that blind guy in the street, I couldnt breathe that was how hard I was laughing.
I say Opie was 100% right on the whole issue. For years, they used to do all sorts of debauchery even on the WNEW years. In the XM years you have guys putting shit on their heads and so forth. Personally, I cant listen to anyone doing anything scat related so I changed the channel, but I MADE THAT DECISION TO CHANGE THE CHANNEL!!!!!!! I know a lot of people are going to bring up the whole penetrating thing, yet Jimmy puts pencils up his ass for Earl to chew on. A penetration act. Bizarre times we live in folks. Bizzare.

Here's the thing -- you can say that "Well, they wouldn't stop Stern from doing this", but Stern wouldn't do it at all. He has as keen a knowledge of the limitations of what he can and cannot do as anyone. I mean, you can tool on his show all you want for being old and busted, and it certainly is. But the last thing you can say about Stern is that he's not a great broadcaster.
So he gets to go on and on about how this is "revolution", and there are "no limits", but he's not even going to let the discussion hint at what they can't do. It's pretty much a carny act when you think about it.

When I first started listening to OnA it was the XM only broadcast, which is what got me hooked on them. When they started the dual broadcast on the fm station I was a bit disappointed. I kept my xm subscription though. Now however the broadcast seems lackluster for whatever reason. Don't know if the boys are getting disillusioned but it seems that satellite radio is NOT uncensored, despite the promotions. I know Opie has made a lot of references to the lawers and restrictions that have been placed upon them.
He may be right in saying this is a fading business, I know I certainly listen to a lot of online programming.

I know I never attacked Howard for being "old or lame." The only reason I brought up Stern is that he would be protected by the lawyers a little bit better than O and A. Now with this new management, O and A get an immeadiate "no." Sure Stern may know his limits, and that is cool. That is his show, his fans love him. God bless him.
The point I was just trying to say is that lately the XM show has become more and more censored. Hell I remember the one time they were talking about "Good Times" circa 2005 or so, and Anthony referred to them as niggers. Sure not a big surprise there considering his recent past, but he said it to make a point about stereotypes and what not. Now he couldnt even make that reference. And no, I am not asking for rascist words to be thrown out. Just pointing out that he was allowed to make that reference because it was uncensored. That aspect of the show has disappeared.
Seriously what is worse? Having someone put anal beads in their ass, or making someone wear a Krusty mask through mouse traps? Dont want to see either censored. Why is it there is a problem for O and A to do anal beads, yet they freely advertise Playboy radio as part of the new XM/Sirius merger?? Im sure those twisted slits on Playboy radio are talking about using vibes, hell may even do something live as part of their show. Yet O and A on an XL channel need to curb their content. I just dont get the problem. Hell every time O and A, and Ron and Fez do a break they advertise a site where MARRIED PEOPLE CAN FIND OTHER PEOPLE TO FUCK AROUND WITH!! No problem with that...but heaven forbid you use some anal beads.
I just dont get all the contradictions. Like I stated in an earlier post, I one hundred percent agree with Opie on his actions. Fuck the "suits" at Sirius. I feel like it is 1999 again, and Steven Lynch is being told by Dave Herman he cant play a song cause of his "history" with songs. (It was when Opie was sick and Anthony was hosting show by himself.)
Disaster
12-19-2008, 07:38 PM
I don’t care or ever need to hear Patty play with beads but this is about so much more. Some one from this new company that’s rapidly going bankrupt needs to tell me why I have an account for a XL channel that they won’t let the hosts do what they want. First it’s a paid service then it’s on an adult channel that can be blocked from kids. Second we pay to hear the people on this channel do and say what they want. Wasn’t that the selling point of getting satellite radio in the first place? Then the merge and they don’t give us a choice of what stations we can listen to and they want us to pay for the “best of” and what crap channels they offer in the first place. Why if I want the NFL network and games would I want Martha’s programs also? If I wanted Stern I would have gotten Sirius in the first place. There random crap they have been pulling makes me think more and more they don’t give one rat’s ass about the people on the XM side of this deal. What’s next what wont they let Ron and Fez say or do? As I said I didn’t want to hear her play with beads so I didn’t listen but I don’t like them being told what they can and can not do. Its bullshit and I don’t like it.

I agree with doogie. I'll just say, no one truely wanted to hear this bit happen, what it basically came down to is that they were told they cant do the bit and never given a reason why. Opie felt like he was on the shit end of the stick when it comes down to the bits allowed to do on his show. They were strip of bits that they have done on regular radio in the past, such as The Homeless Shopping Spree. It gets frustrating when all you hear is "no".

Bullshit, just complete bullshit. I am having some "issues" with the XM Billing going on right now. I might just call up and cancel completely. Not as some crazed fanboy, but as a long time sub holder who is just fustrated by the lack of entertaining content available.
Opie and Anthony might as well just be a political talk/ topical issues program. R&F just aren't R&F anymore (this is not a shock post just my opinion), and they killed my LUCY channel. I might not wanna PAY for this anymore.

2007 was the year that broke their show's back. That was the last time they did a truly funny horribly offensive uncensored bit with Francine+Anthony doing a little bit o' role playing.
Then you have Kramer fuck up at a comedy club, then Don Imus fucks up, and suddenly it's understood nobody is gonna acknowledge the Francine bit or have her in studio practically ever again (yes I know she also moved away). Of course this starts a landslide of peripheral bullshit like the rubbing out of the Homeless Shopping Spree/Egg Nog challenge/anything involving homeless people or regular listeners... Show managed to stay afloat even though it just had a wing clipped, but it finally ran outta fuel sometime this year. It sounds like everyone in that studio's getting ready for a crash. It all started with this shit in 2007.
Ever since then it's been watered down humor, and you can tell the guys are bitter over the transition from being truly uncensored to this fucking censorship shit that is even worse than regular radio was during WNEW.

Like when that weird guy who thinks he's a woman rode it. Definitely worse than anal beads.

They know TV is dead for them.Radio terrestrial is a dried up watering hole for the forseeable future.Expansion in the radio terra markets was a workable dream in a good economy, but that was ruined by the Bushites regime, the daddy Warbucks of corruption and "SABATAGE"(William Shatner pronunciation). http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/j3lehane/MarsDeadBoy81280587_8e696a61e9_bzzM.jpg :flush: At least they didn't get canned like most of XM in the fallout.(I oversimplify making the point of light at the end of the tunnel) What about Obama? Will we at least make an economic turnaround in the mid-2009 to make a difference for most of us? What about Stern? If he quits in 2010,does that leave a bigger opportunity for O&A to rebuild their former numbers? http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/j3lehane/Jivin2account1vc0BW.jpg :drunk: I notice a somewhat small positive change in that Ant isn't blowing his fortune on gambling, but taking up investing playing stocks,a form of better odds gambling.I never felt comfortable with wreckless spending since i'm so tight with my small earnings,by neccessity, and can't forgive the rich for blowing bundles wastefully. That's just me.

(sigh) remember the good ol' xm days of no censorship and no commercials?! i knew the minute the started to accept advertising that they would start cattering to special interest groups.i think that now that xm/sirius makes money off adds that they should stop charging and offer their service for free.(not holding my breath):drunk:

the explanation from SIRIUS is that the sex machine has no penetration, its more of a "pussy gliding" sensation so its acceptable.

the insertion thing is a good point...Opie should just give to the fact that a woman's pussy or asshole can't be penetrated on their show. But not being able to do "Homeless Shopping Spree" or "Egg Nog Drinking Challenge" is just fucking bullshit. They have done those successfully for years
Especially "Homeless Shopping Spree". All they are doing is bringing human beings into a mall. And they can't do that?
The story I heard that XM would have allowed it, but they needed permission from the mall to do it. O&A said "fuck that".

Yeah half the bit is just arriving at an unsuspecting mall and the potential for disaster. It kinda ruins the fun part of the bit. The helping of the homeless is a biproduct of that.

It's like being able to do prank calls, but needing to tell the person ahead of time that you're pranking them.

All of the phony phonecalls you hear on the radio are pre-produced.
I respect the idea of O&A saying "fuck it", but they can't use the Shopping Spree as "we're not allowed to do it". You are allowed to do it, just modified.

He meant that as an example of something shitty. Not as a radio bit he enjoyed. Its like planning your own surprise party. Not a suprise or exciting.
