Opie said on air that they are no longer allowed to have people come to the SiriusXM studio and watch the show live. Between that and lawyers stopping bits today/recently, how many other things are they stopping on the show and what kinds of changes will we see on the show in the near future?

well, the current studio cost a lot of money and they have been there for just about 2 months over a year yet. I doubt the cost of remodeling that space has paid for itself and even if they were considering moving to the Sirius Building to save money I just doubt it would be an immediate move.

At most it's 9 blocks.
And it's more of an issue if they are going to be using the all glass walled studio that is in the middle of the common space in the Sirius offices. If so then I can understand the management not wanting to have large groups of people filling their offices everyday getting in their way. Plus security at Rockefeller Center is a lot stricter then where they are now.
On the upside we'll probably get the Fez/Rory on air reunion.

Sirius is going to single handedly ruin satellite radio. Their stock is worthless, they have their hands in the mix to often, and their music channels blow. I loved XM because there was rarely an air talent. Now there's someone talking every 5 minutes. Now their fucking with our favorite shows. I think they want old XM people pushed out so they can do their own thing 100%. Does Howard have the same complaints? If not he should, it's his ass on the line as much as anyone else. Especially if the company goes under. Some merger, more like a hostile takeover. XM was by far the bettter run company.

it is time for the boys to move from the tax happy new york, build their own radio studio
w/ sound stage ( for there own use as well as oustide contract work) id recomend montana-(no sales tax- more country than redneck) close enough to hollywood and idaho where the stars like to hide. whatever you dont have can be built or reproduced reasonably. easy conceal carry laws. they could just phone it in, wldnt be confronted w/ cbs bullcrap. if not montana - any place that wld suit them better and allow them to grow- can always fly in some boytoys for fezy. their money wld go somuch further.

Oh dude, thats just silly. Failure? In what way? Hmmm..lets seee---
once upon a time this guy really loved a radio show, and did some fun goofy stuff to support it, because he thought the world of that show. later, there came a day where he had mixed feelings about that show, and so he withdrew from doing things, and sometimes said some unflattering things about that show. personal things ensue behind (and in front of the scenes) some bad blood happens, guy now has issues with radio show and expresses them loudly (as is has always been his manner). guy maybe goes a lil too far (as will anyone who has strong positive feelings about something that turn bad) and guy eventually just moves on with his life and finds something else to love and care about with beautiful wife, family, great job, etc.
Sooooo.....failure? what failed?

The bottom line is that Sirius Execs want them in their building so they can keep a close eye on them. You know their studio is gonna suck! They can't have anything better than Howard has.
I just don't get how they're going to travel 9 extra blocks in a reasonable amount of time to go from the simulcast show to the exclusive satellite show. It looks to me that Sirius/XM are trying to squeeze the boys, make it uncomfortable for them. Whatever anyway. That company is a sinking ship at this point and O&A will land on their feet no matter what. Or they go away and Anthony persues his quest to become the first Italian Grand Kleagle.
but split among the 4 principals (5 with jimmy?) it's not so much to broadcast from luxury instead of a shoebox.
After K-Rock passed on the 2008 Homeless Shopping Spree (after paying for the extra mall security / buses / homeless giftcards in 2006 to mixed press) and Sirius XM said they could do it this year, but had to bankroll it - they decided not to go out of pocket for what usually is the biggest event of O+A event of the year. That was only probably a couple grand for what usually is a ton of publicity for their show and careers. Building and renting studios in NYC is 5 to 6 figure amounts per year. Don't see them wanting to pay money when they don't have to.

I don't think this has anything to do with trying to fuck over O&A, R&F and their fans. Regardless of the sunk cost into the XM studios. in the long run, given the astronomical rent of the XM studio, and the need to have separate engineering and security staff, it's purely an economic decision to move both shows to Sirius XM HQ. It sucks, but given the financial straits the company is in, it makes sense to cut their operating budget wherever they can. I'll miss the old studio, but it only makes sense under the circumstances.

Its really an extra benefit thats now being taken away. I never went to visit the show and regret it now that the chance to is being taken away. Anything that Sirius is doing to ensure that they still exist is better than seeing them shut down completely. It snot like Ron and Fez don't make themselves accessable in other ways. I says have a steel cage death match between all the suits and the staff of both shows. The winner gets a shiny new donkey.
I can understand Sirius-XM's position in trying to save money when their company is stalling. SiriusXM makes most of their money from car receivers and since not many people are buying new cars and the car companies needing new funding, it must be hurting their profits.
What I don't understand is that there seems to be the lawyers and managers taming the action and content of the show. It is supposed to be "uncensored" but obviously there are limits now. We are paying for content we are supposed to get that we can't get from FM/AM stations but most of the other channels are the same.

They almost take until 9:30 now to get back on the air... And I don't think the Siruis suits are crazy about it. How are they going to react when it takes an extra 15-20 minutes between shows?
I believe they walk between studios now. All they need to do is jump in a car and that should take care of the issue. Even in NYC traffic it has to be faster.

wow, this thread is chock-full of something...
Sirius makes a decision purely on finances and some of you guys lose your minds.
You do realize that the rent on that place is probably... at least mid six-figures? So for a company that is bleeding cash, it's a sound decision to keep that space. Yes. Sure.
Uncle Mel has already said that as soon as their lease is over at the main Sirius building, they are moving to Jersey.

Yeah, I officially maxed out my Roth for 2008 on Thursday and decided to round it all out with $150 worth of Siri-XM. It was $.13 per share, and I read that the move to revalue the stock has been approved. The way I see it, even if Mel doesn't completely save the company, he'll get it sold to a stable conglomerate. Besides, it's only $150 and it's an IRA so I'm in it for the long haul.

I think people are confusing two things...
The LAWYERS are affecting the content of the O&A show. But fucking honestly... WHO THE HELL WANTS TO HEAR A BIT ABOUT BEADS BEING SHOVED UP THE ASSHOLE OF A WOMAN WHO HAS DIMINISHED MENTAL CAPACITY!?
It's not funny, it's not hot, it's kind of cringe worthy, and borders on sexual assault (going back to the diminished capacity). The entire concept of Stalker Patti is seeing how far they can push her before they break her. And to be honest, I don't want to be listening the day they do.
The Steinway move is a sound economical move. I'm sorry that the "Superfans" can't go to watch the show at Sirius. It wasn't something that has been happening forever. They just got the bleachers, what, a year ago? if that?
To quote the great Judge Smails, "Don't you people have jobs?"

No, you mentioned that the show got you through some tough times. The big picture you're missing is that a lot of us are in the same boat because of 9/11 and the "therapy" that the show provided in the days after what happened.
I attacked you because you're not understanding the bigger picture. Who is to say the rules won't change down the road? This move is done, basically, TO SAVE THE FUCKING COMPANY SO EVERYONE HAS A JOB.
The quality of the show isn't going to change because there's no audience. If anything, the audience drags the shows down a bit, IMHO.

I would assume most of their hardcore audience.
Look at the positives. No more audience means less Fred From Brooklyn.
Fred From Brooklyn on air makes me wish AJ Dynamite was there.

Can I ask a question to everyone who is complaining...
What is so good about watching a radio show? Especially if you have nothing to add and/or be a part of? You're just... watching it?
I mean, is it just for the five minutes that Ron and/or Fez would talk to you during a break? You don't have to go to the show to do that.

Which goes back to point #1 - there's so much great shit in NYC that if you're coming up just to see the show you really need to re-shuffle the priorities.
I love Ron and Fez. But if they were broadcasting out in LA, I would go out there to see Los Angeles, but not specifically to just see them.
I mean... it's a good radio show... but you're not magically going to be a part of the show if that's what people are hoping for.

I find it quite entertaining. It gives you a new appreciation for the show because you see what goes int a show and how people who appear to not do much actually put a lot of work in.

I saw that but there will still be studios in New Yrok. They are not going to get O&A, Stern etc. to move their shows to DC.

The whole thing is ridiculous. No audience, no Pal Talk... Sirius is taking away the unique identity of the O&A show, which is the interaction with their audience. It'll just be a shitty watered down interview show like Stern's. Then Howie will say they stole his show... Hoo, Hoo!

If it means the end of the "hey ron, so-and-so is here with cigars and cupcakes" "well bring them in" bit, then it's a very good thing.
by the way, R&F and O&A had unique identities before live audiences and shitty paltalk.
