People cheat on their significant other because there is something lacking about that person and that void needs to be filled. I figure, if there is something about some other woman that turns me on, that my girlfriend doesn't have, then perhaps she's not the right one for me, and I'll make the decision to talk to her about it. If it's something she can't do, then we need to discuss seeing other people. And the same applies in reverse. If she were to meet a guy that had something to offer that I couldn't, I'd hope she talk to me about it first, and if it was something I wasn't up to, we'd decide to see other people. I'd much rather have her tell me she's not happy in our relationship and break up with me, then to go on lying and cheating on me, making me to be a fool. I've been on that end, and I don't like it. So, I wouldn't ever put someone else through it.

eventhough i know its not a good excuse , once when i was in hs , for the summer before she left for college , i was cheating on my gf with 3 different girls . i definately regret it and see the error of my ways and havent cheated since .

i cheated on somebody once. i'm not trying to make excuses for myself because i know it was wrong. i was in a relationship with somebody for a very long time, and the last 2 years, a year and a half of which we lived together, we really didnt get along at all. i had some problems going on within myself and instead of talking about it, i kept it to myself and made things worse. i think he got to the point where he gave up as well. he also had trust issues with me, which he shouldnt have had in the beginning. anyway, i hooked up with somebody which he found out about, and we broke up. i'll probably never forgive myself for hurting him as much as i did, and for ruining something that meant the world to me, i was just too afraid to deal with my problems. and i swore to myself i'll never hurt anyone like that again.
