I think the warning and reminder was simply put here because some of the most recent "fun board characters" started trolling in threads. And yes, it was trolling! I don't think a board character would be banned if he/ she actually contributes to the thread and not just mock it or throw in a character line that has nothing to do with it.

If you noticed, most that have been banned last night had their last posts outside the Board Character Shelter Thread.


I also find it funny how you are asking for stricter rules and for the mods to moderate better in one thread and then complain when someone puts the foot down.

They don't use but there isn't 1. They use 4 on the field and then there are some officials up in a booth. I am not sure of how many but I think I am safe to say 2. So that makes 6 total.

I don't really have a problem with board characters. I'll roughly define them because too much of this argument is pinned on what a board character is. If you post on a message board, you have a user name. Except in vary rare instances, that user name is not your actual name. Having such a user name does not make you a board character. If you post differently than you act in your normal life (more aggressive, lie about some details of your life, etc.), that does not make you a board character. A board character is an alias created by a user that is for instance, a celebrity or character from a book, tv show, movie, etc., or some stereotypical character and the user posts as if they were that celebrity, character, etc. Board characters are sometimes very funny when used sparingly. I won't out his characters, but Tall_James is probably the master at using his board characters in spots. The vast majority of this board, however, isn't really all that funny when using board characters. I'll note here that I don't really consider GvacMobile, Gregory Joseph or GvacNoMore to be board characters. TigerWoods, Creepy McFlirt and AngryAsianGuy are board characters. The reason we've had to limit the characters somewhat is that many of our users (as with using tags for anonymous personal attacks or the [you] tag), don't have the good judgment in using them. The board character gimmick is getting overdone and ends up polluting the content on the board with lots of nonsense. We've heard people complain that threads don't stay on topic. The overuse of board characters makes it even worse. It's really an interest in keeping a few people who overuse the characters to make the board a little more readable for everyone else.

I don't really have a problem with board characters. I'll roughly define them because too much of this argument is pinned on what a board character is. If you post on a message board, you have a user name. Except in vary rare instances, that user name is not your actual name. Having such a user name does not make you a board character. If you post differently than you act in your normal life (more aggressive, lie about some details of your life, etc.), that does not make you a board character. A board character is an alias created by a user that is for instance, a celebrity or character from a book, tv show, movie, etc., or some stereotypical character and the user posts as if they were that celebrity, character, etc. Board characters are sometimes very funny when used sparingly. I won't out his characters, but Tall_James is probably the master at using his board characters in spots. The vast majority of this board, however, isn't really all that funny when using board characters. I'll note here that I don't really consider GvacMobile, Gregory Joseph or GvacNoMore to be board characters. TigerWoods, Creepy McFlirt and AngryAsianGuy are board characters. The reason we've had to limit the characters somewhat is that many of our users (as with using tags for anonymous personal attacks or the [you] tag), don't have the good judgment in using them. The board character gimmick is getting overdone and ends up polluting the content on the board with lots of nonsense. We've heard people complain that threads don't stay on topic. The overuse of board characters makes it even worse. It's really an interest in keeping a few people who overuse the characters to make the board a little more readable for everyone else.The words that come from my board character are the from the same brain as my origanl boiard charater. These words I type are both reflections of myself. Wether I be Tiger Woods or Davey AND Golieth. Who are you or anyone to decide which one I really speak for. They are all fake. It's just like when your on the air with R&F and play along with the Fez is Gay gimmic or something. Your playing along with something. And just becouse your not involved with a certain cboard characters involvment, doesn't mean that it's not heart felt. The person obviuosly took the time to post it. It must mean something to that person. Why should he be punished for doing something that everyone else on this board does, POST. We all make jokes and rib on each other. There is no hurt with a 'Board Character". It's just that some people get exhausted with them. I get exhausted with Hottub and Eli. But there not told to stick to Hottub and Eli threads.

As for this user name; it is a gaming tag that I have had for 10 years. As for who I am, basically what you see is what you get. I can be a flirt, knowing it will never go anywhere other than this board. As for aggressiveness, this is where I differ in life. Over the past year I have cooled off a lot. Divorce being over, retirement, a bad roommate situation, and now just me. All of this has been one step in the right direction for me. For too long I had taken my frustrations to a particular boards to vent. That is why Rose's RGF comment got me laughing.
