Adaptation may be one of the best films about film ever made
i watched it the other day and it reminded me why i wanted to go to film school in the first place
incredibly well made smart film
fun
and is truly about film making in the tradition of really great movies about Hollywood
other notables
Barton Fink
Sunset Blvd.
and Tim Robbins stared in a movie about a struggling screen writer
cant remember the name
any other movies about movies/movie making/Hollywood suggestions?
ps adaptation is on "on demand" under free movies i think for comcast customers

When I saw that movie, I'd rather my mother had aborted me that I had the ability to see that piece of shit.

Movies about another type of moviemaking:
Hardcore
Boogie Nights
Wonderland
Inside Deep Throat
Rated X
And I agree with Epo: "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" is a totally self-indulgent piece of shit. A movie about how a message board pissed you off? Really, Kevin?

This is probably not what you had in mind pat, but I loved this!
"American Movie".. a documentary about making a low budget horror movie:

"American Movie".. a documentary about making a low budget horror movie:
There's another movie called "Mule Skinner Blues" along the same lines, about a group of people in Florida trying to make a low budget horror movie. (I kind of picture Fezzie's family being a lot like these people.)
I don't like it nearly as much as "American Movie" because I think it takes a much more snide tone towards the filmmakers than "American Movie" does. That is, it's far more openly mocking them than the dude in American Movie gets mocked. Still, it's not a bad watch.

I don't remember too much from this movie other than I thought it was funny.
great film about who most film makers really are and their truly relateable struggles
I really hope this isn't true about most film makers and people in general, cause the "characters" were all pretty sad, slow-witted or delusional.

'Overnight' is a great documentary about Troy Duffy, the director of Boondock Saints, and how big of a giant douche he is.

Mamet's State & Main.
Altman's The Player is actually about Tim Robbins as a studio exec/producer who accidentally kills a struggling screenwriter.

Would Three Amigos fit this category?
The actors all thought they were making a movie for most of it, so I'd say absolutely.
