Threads.

Threads is a 1984 BBC television play depicting the effects of a nuclear war on the United Kingdom and its aftermath. Written by Barry Hines and directed by Mick Jackson, Threads was filmed in late 1983 and early 1984. The premise of Threads was to hypothesise the effects of a nuclear war on the United Kingdom after an exchange between the Soviet Union and the United States escalates to include the UK.

It might be set in 1984 but all that means is that the bombs are smaller.

There was another movie that was similar to that called The Day After. It scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.

If nuclear war broke out I'd consider going to your next birthday party.

the ronfez.net supercomputers, located in the heart of the Cheyenne Mountain Directorate, would be unaffected.

no more economy
no good from anywhere coming in
run on oil
run on all food

fortunately a zombie invasion and a nuclear holocaust are relatively similar so most of the work I've done to this point would be relevant, if i hadn't been annihilated in the opening salvo that is

Just finished watching it.

I am pretty bummed out now.

Once it hits we are all doomed. Only the cops and other officials are going to survive as they make all the rest of us work for them for scraps of bread.

The future is going to suck.

Ditto.

There was a novel about an atomic explosion I think set in LA that set me on edge for awhile too.

the problem is - that's the case for most of the world right now. Result: no one fucking cares except Americans and a few others.

just finished watching it. pretty depressing, although the idea that humanity survives (albeit in a pretty sad state) is somewhat optimistic.

the lone humorous moment was the poor guy sitting on the toilet when the bombs dropped. you know someone will be caught in that situation if it actually happens...

thanks for the link, Jezo. that was interesting.

as for The Day After, i've never seen it. that was one of the 2 shows that my parents forbade us to watch as kids. the other was the 'V' miniseries (though my friend taped it, so i saw it anyway). not sure why, i guess my parents had a problem with reptile aliens.

all of us that have played fallout know that if we can freeze time and use head shots well we'll be fine
