see...i get alot of shit for appreciating people like Earl, New Lilly, Franklyn, etc.

but i enjoy the overall radio they bring, not necessarily for their personal talent, but the comedy that Ron and Fez are able to milk out of exploiting them. But i also think that for people like me to enjoy people like them, i need people like you who get so angry at them for being there. Its a delicate cycle...but im constantly laughing so i have no complaints

Earl is shockingly knowledgeable about music and more so films when they are having serious discussions, and I always love those segments for what they are. It's a totally different level of enjoyment when Earl is fucking up, being an idiot, being incompetent at his job, being a liar, or just generally being a target as a mark in terms his ridiculous views of religion or science etc. He's brilliant for the Ron and Fez show, but I don't think he would work anywhere else, unless in low dosages on O&A, but I really think Ron knows how to use him for radio gold, otherwise he would just be an incompetent radio producer.

I don't have the high post count to make a difference but I'll say it anyways, I like Earl being on the show. Intentional or not, I'd miss what he brings to show like when Sam, Dave, and the Lillies stopped by and were playing a game of confessions and it was all stuff like getting caught masturbating wherever then Earl stops by and mentions Baby Satchmo for the first time.
Ron immediately saying "Did you not get the comedic tone of the bit?" right afterwards really did it for me. AJ Dynamite for trying too hard and Earl not trying hard enough add to show for me. Like another poster said, Earl = comedic foil.

Also, I'm happy guests don't get booked so I don't mind Earl as an EP not getting that done. When they do come in, they're boring as hell and bring the show to a halt. I know Ronny enjoys listening to Richard Belzer or whoever they can get but I sure don't. Jay Mohr calling in is the only celebrity that does well on that show for me.

I think about this a lot.
I have a solid background in radio, even talk show production (sports talk, AM style, but i rocked it), and my dream gig is to be the EP of the R/F show.
I feel Dave and Earl both can be considered more than worthy of duel AP roles, Dave is great on air and has a lot to bring to the show in many regards, and Earl is of some value, he can, and does, do more than most would guess, but he just fucks shit up along the way, if there were another person to walk him through the hoops and be on his shit as he screws up, he could actually be worth putting up with...., but i dont think they'd pay enough, what's Earl make $50 G's?
I say demote him and slice his pay, make him and Dave equals, and for the sake of fairness, put Hicks up on the shelf as an equal AP (if he's not already)....., then put the word out for a new king:king: and let corporate know they need some new employee paperwork

Ron blames Fez for not deciding to hire a real EP, instead they kept Earl out of friendship, not competence.
But, yes, it is both of their faults for keeping Earl after all his lies, blunders, and lack of results.
