I hate that normal people are corralled but Ryan Seacrest gets to wander all over times square like hes a reporter. What are his credentials again?
Why cant the people on the street drink? I dont think the result would be worse than any normal baseball game. Plus theres no fans rooting for the other team.
And why is Fergie constantly showing up at the NY ball dropping?

Ryan Seacrest is bland but I guess that's what they want. He's getting a little old for that boy band unshaven look. One year as a co-host they should try a comedian out who knows how to adlib.

As to Dick Clark, he sounds the same but he does look better. When he first had the stroke, he was paralyzed on the right side but now he uses both hands when he talks. Doesn't sound like much but he had to do physical therapy for years to get to that point. I have to give him respect; he's one of the wealthiest people in show business, he doesn't have to put himself out there like that.

i felt bad for the way he sounded but hes still pretty great at giving that 'we had a great past year and all the best wishes for the next year' speeches

I flipped over to the Carson Daley coverage for lack of anything better, and they didn't do a countdown from the studio. They had a clock running in the corner, but they just used sound from Times Square. There was a nice balance of crowd shots and the ball, then focused back on the ball for the final 10 seconds or so.

It seemed a little chaotic without the "guiding voice" of Dick Clark that I had been used to for decades, but it was pretty well done.
