I didn't care for the money shot at the end. being a low budget film the end scene was too grainy and left me confused as to what really happened.

On DVD :

Sleepaway Camp boxset
Friday The 13th boxset
Original Dawn Of The Dead Special Edition
My Bloody Valentine
The Prowler

I have this pretty cool 50 movies on 10 discs box set that actually has a few decent low budget flicks ( Driller Killer & Drive In Massacre ) amongst many, many terrible ones.

On VHS I have a whole bunch of movies including :

CHUD
Mutant
Gates Of Hell
Zombie
Night Of The Demons

House of 1000 Corpses

Any and all of the George Romero zombie stuff.

I watched this a few months ago on cable and it didn't hold up as well as I remembered.

I thought the claymation monsters were awesome at the time but they are very lame.

I also watched 976-Evil and that didn't hold so well either.

I have all of the Evil Dead movies on VHS but I think I only have Army Of Darkness on DVD.

I have all of the Slumber Party Massacre ones on VHS.

Also have most of the HP Lovecraft movies, those done w/ Jeffrey Combs, including The Reanimator ( VHS and special edition DVD ) and From Beyond.

I don't buy dvds anymore since discovering demonoid.

I do have a small collection of movies I thought I would watch over and over but still have the plastic wrap on them. complete and total waste

I am a big fan of the Grudge series, but only the ones made for Japanese audiences, and the first american remake.

Feast is a hell of a fun ride.

House of 1000 Corpses is great, but you can't have it listed on this thread without The Devil's Rejects.

Slither was fun, very much an homage to Night Of The Creeps

I still cringe when thinking about Poltergeist. There was a scary movie that was ahead of its time for being a PG flick that scared with the best of them. Scary clown, say no more.

Slither was pretty good but I wanted it to be better.

I'm pretty sure she was in the first one but I thought she might be in the 2nd one as well.

Zelda Rubenstein is her name.

Some of the old Hershell Gordon Lewis flicks are OK to go back and view.

So bad but some of them, ( Tw Thousand Maniacs ) so far ahead of their time w/ regards to gore.

I watched the original Wizard Of Gore around Halloween and it was cheesey but a good waste of like 70 minutes.

There's a remake w/ Cripsin Glover coming out and I'm guessing it goes straight to DVD.

Cougar please tell me you didnt like the Scream movies ?

What an insult to the revival of the slasher flick.

I know it's responsible for the genre coming back but what loads of shit those were.

I actually didn't like Wolfen either.

Remember going into seeing it as a kid and being very disappointed it wasn't about werewolves.

The Howling was a good movie.

The others not so much outside of the Sybil Danning tit scene in Howling 2.

Boingggggg !!!!

There's nothing wrong with Scream 1. It doesn't offer much rewatchability, so I wouldn't buy it -but as a post-modern horror movie, it's fun.

If you're going to put the Exorcist on the list you have to include Exorcist III. It's the true sequel to the first and one hell of a scary fucking movie. There is a scene in it that will disturb you for weeks. I feel like I've been banging the drum about this movie for years. Hopefully somebody out there is listening to me.

My old boss had hundreds of horror movies. I really got into a lot of great (and terrible) horror movies from him.

Tartan Asia Extreme makes some pretty good movies (Maybe NSFW)
http://killerreviews.com/tartan.asp
You can pick, and it will be hit or miss.

Cannibal Holocaust is a must own, absolute classic.
As previously stated, George Romero flicks (At least Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead, which is possibly his best).
The Shining.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetary Man)
Freaks (Don't own yet, but am in the process of waiting for it).

No love for Phantasm?I even liked the sequels!
I Spit on Your Grave
Town That Dreaded Sundown
Troll(doesn't hold up as well as Ghoulies) (you figure out the joke)
Nightbreed
7th seal..
Nosferatu..both versions..although silent is creepier!

I Spit on Your Grave

Despite the fact that this movie has the GREATEST title ever, I thought it stunk. It may be the worst ''Revenge for getting raped" movie there is (I don't know if that's a legit film category, but fuck it). The "bathtub" scene was terrifying, though.

I was always more a fan of "Last House on the Left".

Salem's Lot...scared the piss out of me.

Cannibal Holocaust is a must own, absolute classic.

I think they're in the process of releasing a special edition of this ( or it could be out already ) and also possibly a " sequel " of sorts.

The "bathtub" scene was terrifying, though.

I cringe just thinking about that scene.

I was always more a fan of "Last House on the Left".

You'll be happy, or unhappy, to know that a remake should be out soon :

It's got a decent cast.

I wonder if they'll be as " edgy " as the original.

It didn't show much, if any, gore but implied a lot.

The " sequel " that Eli Roth made was OK to watch but didn't leave much of a lasting impression other than that it was g*y.

Here's a sequel that has me concerned: My Bloody Valentine 3-D (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179891/)

I have not seen the original in at least 20 years, but I remember it being a pretty good flick. A 3-D sequel?? I'll reserve judgment until I see it, but definitely add the original to your collection.

No one has mentioned The Omen or The Exorcist

If you get the Exorcist, make sure to watch William Friedken's directors narration in the extras. I think it still stands as the best horror flick of all time and easily one of my favorite movies.

You didn't mention what type of horror flick you enjoy.

True, you started with The Howling series, which I have never seen, so, while I do know that they're werewolf films, I don't know how they handle the story.

I am partial to An American Werewolf in London myself, but it's been one of my favorite movies since I was ... 8 or 9. I like the light touch which is a necessary element in a lot of horror films.

Part of the reason I enjoyed the Scream series is the fact that all the films are so "self-aware" and blast open the whole "slasher" genre. Also, I think that they're more of a laugh-fest than they are "horror" films.

Among my favorite horror films are

Dracula (1931) Bela Lugosi was awesome. Damn shame that he became a heroin addict and died broke & alone. But, of course, the studio system seems to have really lent itself to severe type-casting ... he ended up playing the same character over and over and over again ... except for his role in The Wolf Man (1941)

The Wolf Man (1941) has both Lon Cheney, Jr. and Claude Rains in it. I love Claude Rains; he was an amazing character actor.

Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935) are also among my favorites. They may not be particularly good, but I will watch them over and over and over again. Despite the fact that I love Mary Shelley's novel to pieces.

The Invisible Man (1933) stars Claude Rains. It's so offbeat and creepy, I had to love it.

If you're into werewolf flicks, I can heartily recommend Silver Bullet (1985) even though it's kind of clunky and cheesy in spots. Again, the light touch makes it an easy movie to watch. Plus, it has Gary Busey (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000997/), Corey Haim (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000433/) and Megan Follows (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001227/) in it. (They work really well together, believe it or not.)

Other "light touch" flicks out there include both Fright Night (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089175/) movies, which I found to be hilarious. And I continue to quote them on random occasions, much to the chagrin of my friends and family.

I think they are working on a prequel.
