Goddamnit!! I sliced a piece of my damn finger off tonight slicing an onion with one of these mandolin slicer things:

where the frak did that stupid safety handle thing go that would have prevented this?!? i don't know what happened to it, but i figured i was enough of a grown up to operate a kitchen utensil. apparently, i figured wrong!
i was bleeding like an animal, and i don't even have a decent band-aid to cover it, so i have it wrapped with a piece of paper towel and electrical tape. stings like sh!t!!!!
and it's my right hand index finger, which i use for just about everything. this sucks!!!
looks like 2009 is gonna be a hell of a year! :furious:

i cut my fingers up all the time. i always use paper towels and electrical tape. im surprised the band-aid companies havent started selling sterile paper towels and pre-cut band-aid sized electrical tape.
although is best if you use a lot of tape, and pretend that your finger is in a tiny plastic cast

there's a noticeable flatness to the tip of my index finger. it's not like i chopped off a whole knuckle, but it's gonna take a while for this to heal.
/i miss my finger flesh

Sorry to hear that.
Those mandolins always scare me on the Iron Chef. I always yell out "Be Careful!"

I have that exact slicer and the thing is wicked evil. It the exact timeyou think you can take one more swipe, shit there goes a finger. It does cut very cleanly though.

pour some vodka on it to disinfect, then squeeze a lime in it to clot the bleeding. oh, and this is going to hurt so you might want to take a shot beforehand. this will work quickly, but it's definitely going to sting. be a man!
