Got a B+ booyah! Which I wanted some type of A grade but I'll take it as a start. I'm 35 and just started taking one class per semester. I have to check penn state fees for online classes and see if I can get moving a little quicker here.
I'd really like to make it through and study engineering but don't know if that's going to work out. I'd really like a job where I'm ... well I 'm not really sure but not what I'm doing.
Anyway. Math dude. That was fun. I'm going to sign up again for the next level algebra this semester. And I swear doing this has helped me in all areas of my life... it's just helped my thinking immensely.
Numbers are no longer like "oh, now i have to deal with numbers, if I must" which is how it's been my whole life. Now it's like "yeah, numbers! let's party!"
or something.

Nice job! I've been going back to school myself for the last year+ an I've put off college-level math my entire college "career." I actually need to take two to be able to get my degree this summer...I hope the end result is similar to yours.

nice mojo - thanks.
I jumped at the class with an attitude of f- it ... it's bullshit how people get sold this idea that they're not good at math. I wasn't good about giving a shit about anything as a high schooler is what it was. Math included. Now that I'm older - and I work at it - it's fantastic.

i have always considered going back for a course or two in my minor, psychology... maybe work towards a second degree. it's a scary prospect after 30 but you are on your way... very inspiring!

or something. :happy:Congrats! Going back to get my teaching certs. Even though I placed out of the college math on my exams at Rutgers(where I got my first two degrees), I know I will have to take one. My problem in High School was we always had to show our work. I almost always got the right answer..just not know how I got it.
Are you still in the Scranton Area? If So, Marywood, has some pretty good classes, as does Keystone.

Thanks for the congratulatories buddays.
no I'm long gone from the area.
miss Mulberry St. on a Thurs. through Sunday.
I'm seriously going to try to do more online now though. I can do math long distance. For me it's finding out how the puzzle works and then doing the crap out of more and more similar and progressively more difficult problems.

Nope, not my bag, I would research the shit out of a myth or saying on a whim though.
Good luck!

Congrats!
I just passed my first Math class in probably 3 years and it was rough at times. It didn't help that i threw myself into Statistics but i needed it to transfer.
I'm gonna have to take pre-calc eventually and im pretty sure i will not pass it Meh.

How's your algebra and geometry?
Everything in pre-calc builds on algebra, so if your algebra is shaky, see if you can sign up for a tutoring session at the Math Science Learning Centers (assuming RU still has those) in algebra right before you take the pre-calc.
Good for you passing Stats. I pretty much failed it when I took it six years ago, but I think that was mostly because I blew off studying one too many times.

in this economy, the best thing you can do is to beef up your skill set and make yourself that much more indispensible. when the ax falls, it will be less likely to fall on you.
I was laid off last year, and in the time I had I took some classes in CAD software that I didn't yet know but in interviewing with a bunch of firms, learned that the industry is heading towards using. Not only did that help me get the job I have now, but this week I learned that I am the only person in the firm not having his hours reduced. In fact, my boss told me that before he ever laid me off or reduced my hours, he would fold the firm altogether. he told me that he and I would "go down with the ship" were it to go down at all.
so keep taking those courses!
and stop posting here during work hours!
