Opie said that they were the only "thought-provoking" show allowed to be on radio anymore very early in the show. He clarified to say that there are shows but all those shows do is play music.

No one is syndicated anymore? I hate to tell Bob and Tom or Free Beer and Hot Wings the news. Do their shows suck? Yes, I think so, but they are not getting dropped like crazy from every station that they are on. Some shows are not in emergency mode.

And, just a smaller perspective, a guy I listened to on KMOX(St. Louis) back in the day just started a new syndicated talk show on overnights. It's not a Jeff and John show, it's a thoughtful and intelligent program that he has put together over the last 10 years and is now being rewarded for the effort.

Please don't try to tell me you are the only "thought-provoking" show allowed on the airwaves these days.
