I would be convinced that she really believes what she says if she lived in a cabin in remote North Carolina, wrote her columns and books on a manual typewriter, and then mailed them to her NYC publisher. Of course not, but it goes back to an old theory by Aristotle. There are three cornerstones to an argument:

1. Facts
2. Credibility
3. Appeal to emotion

The strongest argument uses all three, the weakest argument only uses one (the weakest of the three being emotional appeal).

But in the theory, if I have the facts but no credibility I will not be believed. Hence the "right wing" entertainers hammer on Media Matters' credibility so their people will not believe them.
