View Full Version : What the fuck is wrong with women?

I have been noticing more and more a strange phenomenon with women. It seems that whenever I am going through a door, they ALWAYS expect you to open it and hold it for them. Now dont get me wrong, I am not an animal - I always hold the door for a woman (if only to check out her ass as she walks through) but what the fuck? They are so expectant for guys to hold the door for them they wont even make an attempt to open it themselves. If I were a woman I would be embarassed if people thought I was too weak to open a fucking door. I will give you some examples:
1) Today on my way out of work I was walking toward a set of double glass doors. One on the right, and one on the left. There was a middle aged woman walking into the building at the same time I was leaving. We both saw each other coming, and were about the same distance away from the doors. I walked to the right, and as I opened the door to leave she walked over to her left and proceeded to wait for me to get through the door and hold it open for her while she walked through. Who the fuck GOES THROUGH THE LEFT HAND DOOR?
2) I am walking from the parking lot into the building last week, and I get out of my van at the same time as one of the women from another floor arrives. I know her, but not really well. I answer my cell phone as we walk, and she beats me to the building by about 5 feet. Since there is no one there to open her door, she opens it enough to squeeze through, then lets go letting it close in my face. I am done my phone call by now and I catch up to her at the turnstile. She doesn't say shit. She coudnt have NOT seen me there, she just didn't care. As a side note, I have held the fucking door for her a hundred times.
3) Later that day, after coming back from a Tim Horton's run I am walking into the building. There is a guy that fucking hates me about 30 feet or so ahead of me. He grabs the door, walks in and holds it for me. I only had one coffee in my hand and he would rather light me on fire than say good morning to me, but he mans up and holds the door (as I would have for him in reverse).
Why are women so fucked with this shit? And I'm not just talking about older ladies, I'm talking everyone from like 20 to 60.
Anyone else ever notice this out there?

I am 35 and I never expect a man to hold the door for me. I'll even hold it open for a guy if he's there with me or behind me. Maybe the ladies in your area are just delicate flowers.

Fuck people who stand back and wait to go through the open door when there are DOUBLE DOORS. YOU CAN GO THROUGH THE OTHER DOOR, DIPSHIT.
Now that that's out of the way...
I actually prefer not to have strangers hold the door for me because then I'm obligated to say "thank you." I don't like talking to people.

If you open the door for a woman while thinking about how she is a lazy,

I was on Original Lilly's side of the door-holding thing.
Sometimes it's nice, sometimes it smacks of demeaning, and sometimes it's that swanky old man who says, "After you, Doll" like it's 1950.
I've never had a problem opening a door that I can remember, and I hold doors for guys all the time, and I don't look at the gender of the person behind me while I prop it open for an extra 5 seconds. Just trying to help, not peeking at any tushies.

My friend and I (both males) were hanging out with two girls. We were headed to a bar in the west village. This place had an inner and outer door. We opened the outer door. Both hammered girls got to the second inner door. One girl opened the door. Her sister forced it closed and said angrily "NO! Let THEM do it!" (referring to my friend and I). I was so stunned. Both girls are good friends of mine. Up until then we were having a fine time. No reason to be mad. It was a really ugly side of her to see and only underscores the double standards women enjoy in this day and age.

I generally hold doors for just about everyone, guys or chicks... even if its just to hold it open a little longer as I'm walking out. So the other day I was walking out of a Chapters book store, the front doors on these places are huge oak mother fuckers. Anyways, I just got the Watchmen graphic novel and as I'm walking out I noticed that woman infront of me holds the door for a woman who I am directly behind... that infront of me (Who has nothing in her hands) just lets the heavy oak door slam against me... and she knew I was there... fucking women.

What is better than the look of complete gratitude on an old woman's face when you hold the door for her?
That look that says, "Hey, men always used to do this but I have learned not to expect it anymore and now I am completely appreciative and surprised that someone still has some manners.".

Are you seriously complaining about having manors. You should hold the door for a woman its the right thing to do. Real men have real manors. You shouldn't eat with a hat on, you should pull a dates chair out for her, you shouldn't curse, you should take care of the check, and you should sure as shit open doors for women. This in my mind embodies the decline of our culture as a whole; its an indicator for sure. Its all about this 'why do I have to' thing that's making us as bad as savages. You don't have to, you just should because you want to, because its the manly thing to do. [/rant]

I hold the door open for everybody, not just women. I can't believe how self-absorbed some people are. I've seen people walk into a convenience store and let the door slam behind them while a guy with a hand truck stacked to the top with cases of soda is trying to come in.
Like WM Tom said, it's a sign of the times. Now more than ever people are out for themselves, and the "what about me" mantra is the battle cry for the new century, it seems.
People love to spout all the "it takes a village" type quotes, but they certainly don't live that way.

It's the sense of entitlement of the times that pisses me off more than anything.
And though I agree wholeheartedly about the gentlement stuff, I do the same thing. I hold doors open for men and women and if I see someone coming with full hands or a dolley I go out of my way to open the door for them. It's not just a male thing, it's a decent human being thing.

I agree with you guys, don't get me wrong. I dont begrudge the people I hold doors for - I do it because it is the right thing to do. What bothers me is the fact that women (mainly it seems to me, but probably men too) don't appreciate it. I don't need big accolades, I would just expect people to smile, say tanks sometimes, or maybe reciprocate from time to time. Thats all.
