Watching Larry King with the pres and wife.

laura bush comes off more stupid than bush

g.w. actually had to come to her rescue when Larry asked her a question

bush looks really shifty eyed but i guess that his m.o.

gw also tried to laugh off 9/11 but then caught himself

I don't think it's a matter of intelligence. I think they're probably both above average in that regard.

They're just dishonest, and it's difficult to formulate answers to questions when you're trying to make up the answer on the fly.

Almost any question Larry asks are questions they knew ahead of time would be asked and that they should have an answer on.

I can't say for certain, but I'm thinking that Bush is exactly what the one R&F guest said. He's so incompetent that he's not even competent to know that he's incompetent.

G. BUSH: That's what matters. That is the one poll that counts. The rest of the stuff is just -- you can make a poll say anything you want. And it's just -- it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is knowing that I made decisions based upon principles and that I would not sell my soul in order to chase popularity.
?????

KING: I am trying to look up something. I will get to it in a minute. Are we ever, ever going to find bin Laden?

G. BUSH: Yes, of course. Absolutely.

KING: You are confident, based on --

G. BUSH: Because we have a lot of people looking for him, a lot of assets out there. He can't run forever. Just like the people who allegedly were involved in the East African bombings, couple of them were brought to justice recently.

KING: Did we ever come close?

G. BUSH: I don't know. I can't answer that.

KING: You don't know.

G. BUSH: I really don't know. I'm not trying to hide anything.
So who does know?

G. BUSH: But we didn't know anything. I mean, we -- nobody knew. Nobody predicted that guys were going to fly airplanes into major buildings in New York or the Pentagon, so.

We're gonna miss Bush.
Trying to wish Obama well, the Deciderator got off this one during Monday's press conference:

“I’m telling you there’s an enemy that would like to attack America, Americans, again. There just is. That’s the reality of the world. And I wish him the very best.”

He's the Al Dukes of politics!

It makes a nice bookend to these gems:

"I can't imagine someone like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hannukah."

"We will stand up for terror. We will stand up for freedom."

"I think war is a dangerous place."

"It's in our country's best interest to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way."

"They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and neither do we."

"Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction."

"The truth of that matter is, if you listen carefully, Saddam would still be in power if he were the president of the United States, and the world would be a lot better off."

"I understand that unrest in the Middle East creates unrest throughout the region."

Once of my favorites:

Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream.

While I'm thrilled to see the goof leave office (finally), I'll miss the joys of new material on dubyaspeak.com. (http://www.dubyaspeak.com/)

How often did Laura emasculate W?
From watching the horse-face Michelle Obama, it seems the first lady is supposed to emasculate her husband every 30 seconds in every interview.

There was that story about her getting enraged over an affair he had with Condi. Supposedly she stalked out and spent the night at the Hay-Adams....

As important as getting a good grip on the shaft.
