I have to admit I was completely fooled. I know I should have seen it coming but I really thought he was gonna be on. I thought the way they swerved his appearance was great. He wouldn't have said anything I wanted to hear anyway but I was excited for them that I thought he was gonna be on. When he showed up and kept interupting Ron and Fez I thought it was beyond funny.

Your gonna love the bit when Dave acts like Paul McCartney he keeps coming back and back and back interupting the entire time. Fez gets into the sexual discussions for the first time ever. Blowhard calls to discuss the new Thor Movie. Eddie Trunk plays stump the Trunk.

It was a real knee slapper. Paul just didn't want to leave the studio. Thank God Ron finally put his foot down and made him finally flee. Damn Paul kept on interupping the show. Yesh.

Dave as The Bearded Joker? Hysterical. Dead on. Genius.
Dave as Paul McCartney? Horrible. Terrible. Annoying.
But the two radio shows did pull off the perfect one-two combination punch. I knew McCartney was going to be on The View this morning, so once it got to be close to 11 o'clock, I knew he couldn't possibly do both the TV and the radio show. But it made sense that he might be running late, and therefore would show up at XM and do R+F instead.
And to be honest, while I would love nothing more than to listen in as Ronnie B interviews the legendary Paul McCartney, I was cringing at the the prospect of having O+A do so. Neither one is really a fan of any of his work, whether in the Beatles or his solo carreer; and Jimmy knows nothing about music pre-1976. I was just imagining Opie seeing this as an oportunity for more of his radio shenannigans, or Jimmy blathering on about himself and having his nipples played with.
Verdict? Glad McCartney didn't do O+A; sorry he didn't do R+F.

i would like to hear about his career. he helped change the world.

I'm listening late on the old Helix...
I used to kind of hate Paul McCartney, but he turned me around with his appearance(s) on R&F today. Best radio since last Friday.

Paul is a living legend and a personal hero. O&A sour grapes and who cares, Dave doing a Paul bit alright I get it, Ron interviewing him would have been priceless for obvious reasons.
Let's not forget who we're talking about here. He did Howies show because of an existing report, but how can you blame him for not doing O&A. I'm a huge fan of the show, but come on imagine Paul with lady Mc Cartney as intro music and then a serious callers only segment.

Dave's Bearded Joker is great. His impersonation of Heath Ledger's performance is spot on - the tone of voice, the delivery, the vocal inflections - it's just a perfect take on it. Where it's going? I don't have a clue; but I've really enjoyed what Dave has done with it so far.
The McCartney thing? Really, it could have just as well been Dave doing a Lucky Charms leprecon routine. Bore absolutely no resemblance to the sound of McCartneys voice or the way he speaks; other than trying to tag it with some bizarre Dr Suess-style rhyming, which I'm at a loss to associate with McCartney.
Perhaps the whole point of the bit was just that it was the ol' bait and switch; and hence the voice was a secondary concern. In fact, taking that approach, maybe the less it sounded like McCartney the better. But after they beat it into the ground four or five times, with nothing funny written for Dave to say... well, to quote the immortal Casey Kasem - "...ponderous, fuckin' ponderous."
The fact that they tried to keep the bit going was kind of stupid, yeah it was probably some ploy by them since sirius fired roland but still.......
What the fuck were they gonna ask paul? OnA are a joking kind of show but they have never been a suck up like howard in their whole career so why should they now expect to transition to that role? They seem to want to be stern but their whole show has been about how outside they were and never seemed to accept the fake hollywood shit, so why should they start now?
Also, wouldnt they alienate half their fans if they started interviewing people they were cracking on just a few months ago?
how is it sour grapes? makes no sense.
Makes perfect sense, mainly cause they fire roland the reason being sirius had their own booking person to get them bigger guests, since then nothing has been booked for their show, the main reason being that no one gets their show at sirius. Still they cant hide the fact they are hurt by the fact they will never be media people like howie, they are howard early in his career and it took him almost a decade to shake that persona and interview real people instead of coked up rock people.

Roland wasnt hired on by sirius.
So he wasn't "fired" then, as the other poster said. He just wasn't carried over.
Maybe it's because Sirius realized that O&A interviews were fucking awful, unless Jimmy is interviewing Zakk Wilde.
