Since they are talking about it on air, what do you think Quentin Tarantino's signature song is from his movies?
Jungle Boogie? Little Green Bag? Stuck in the Middle with You? Something else?
I'm going Dick Dale - Miserlou

Battle Without Honor or Humanity or Jungle Boogie.

It's either Bustin Surfboards or Battle Wihtout Honor of Humanity.

Should we make this a poll? Two songs from Dogs, Fiction, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill and an other option?

I think you could damn near make separate threads for each of his movies to find the definitive song for each movie.

I want someone to just post an entire compilation of songs so I can download myself a new playlist. they all rock.

I concur, although I think the definitive is Miserlou.

I'd have to go with Stuck in the Middle with You. Probably his most famous scene.
How about taking one from each to make a poll? (And not by Lleeder)
Of course any five we give won't be perfect, but here is a starting point:
Reservior Dogs - "Stuck in the Middle" by Stealers Wheels
Pulp Fiction - "Miserlou" by Dick Dale
Jackie Brown - "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time" - by The Delfonics
Kill Bill - "Woo Hoo" by the 5.6.7.8's
Death Proof - "Hold Tight!" - by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beak, Mick & Tich

I think because Dogs hasn't been as widely seen as Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill, I don't think Little Green Bag or Stuck in the Middle with You really resonates as only Tarantino's.
I really think, R&F's use not withstanding, that the two songs that you hear one bar from and most people immediately think Tarantino is Miserlou or Battle without Honor or Humanity.
I actually have a Dick Dale CD with just an acoustic version of Miserlou. It's sick.
Dick Dale also was responsible for one of my favorite gags of all time - Beavis and Butt-head watching the video for "Nitro" and Beavis flipping out.

I'm not sure abotu that. Vonage's use of the song immediately takes away the coolness. You play that song for people today and they'll answer Vonage, not Tarantino. Kill Bill is Battle Without Honor or Humanity. Then Bang Bang by Nancy Sinatra, then Oren Ishii's theme.

When Quentin directed that episode of Itchy and Scratchy it was Stuck in the Middle with You, so that's the winner...

I think it's by Dick Dale... it's not Miserlou though. It's slower. I can't think of where in Pulp Fiction though - same kind of sound as Miserlou... but slower... arrrrgggg.. I'll have to research this one.
But that sounds like Tarantino to me.
Found it!

Great thread. It's funny because their conversation sparked me into looking up all of his soundtracks. I looked on wikipedia and found that there a lot of songs that never even make it to the soundtrack.

you were supposed to make your first post in the disneyspy thread. anti-earl topic i think. i dunno.
the first 26 minutes of dusk till dawn are perfect. after cheech shows up the movie becomes a rodriguez jack-off flick. i think he filmed it simultaneously with spykids. he used all the same actors.

Dick Dale - Miserlou.

I was gonna agree, but the more I think about it, Mooch nailed it with the intro.
Little Green Bag, 100%.
You can't hear that song, and not think of the specific scene that Tarantino put together.

I donno if it can be considered his "signature song" but Dark Night by The Blasters is a great song. It was played at the end of From Dusk Till Dawn.

i think miserlou is the 'QT song' but for me its all about the scene. the song and slow motion scene in the alley go together so well. that to me IS tarantino. that scene started a new era in film

Battle Without Honor or Humanity or Jungle Boogie.
You got it man. That Hotei song, "Battle without honor" is signature. That would be the walk-out tune if Tarantino presented anything anywhere.

This thread made me break down and buy Kill Bill vol 1 & 2. I was gonna hold out for a director's cut, but I had to watch them today. I already watch Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction at least once a month.
I am going to have to go with Miserlou. If he makes an appearance on a TV talk show, he will be accompanied to stage by a cover of that tune.
Outside of the signature songs, I totally agree with Ron on the point of the whole taking a song nobody would want on their iPod before seeing his films and making it absolutely blow up.
I am especially keen on Chick Habit from the closing of Death Proof, Twisted Nerve from the hospital scene in Kill Bill Vol. 1, and Battle Without Honor and Humanity. I only knew Battle Without Honor and Humanity as a ring entrance theme in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
I also like how QT will use music outside of the context of it's lyrics because the music fits the mood of the scene so well. The use of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood at the end of Kill Bill Vol. 1 is perfect. Or, of course, Stuck in the Middle With You... my ear aches just thinking about it.
