I am not asking if emails & texts exist locally. I'm talking about a "mainframe".
My question is,
Is there a permanent recording of your emails and texts on some mysterious server somewhere?
Could an email or text from 8 years ago be retrieved today?

I'm sure the conspiracy theorists will say yes. I'm not interested in anyone's theories.... I wanna know the actuarials of every single text and email being harvested and logged in such a way that the FBI, CIA, DEA, etc etc could obtain the written data that was in the original message.

I say "no".
I think if such an infrastructure was in place, we'd hear about a LOT more arrests and convictions that were obtained through these means.
And yet.... I know many people who say that "they" (whoever THAT is) have records of "everything" when referring to emails that could incriminate somebody.

I know that there's probably a record that a text was sent from this phone to that phone. Or an email from this IP to that IP. But is the content there too??

Inquiring minds wanna know.

Imagine the cost of keeping and maintaining such a database. Unemployment wouldnt be so high if such a thing existed.

Sending anything incriminating through txt/email is stupid and if you're that dumb mabye you deserve getting busted.

I back all my text messages up on this computer which is then backed up to my network drive.

Outside of that, I am curious how long the service providers keep these records...

As for the gov't I can not speak specifics, but the red flag system is true.

all the data is saved. it is doubtful that enough man power exists to review them all, i think that is why the electronic flag program exists. that is why i always refer to bombs as bacon and holy war as king hippos bandaid. i keep it on the dl.

In outlook your emails are still saved after you delete them.

you can also retrieve them and delete them from there as well.

From what I gather, all of your deleted texts and emails are taken by theses guys. I think they have my underpants as well.
