My choices are pretty limited around here. I have a lot of trouble finding a salad dressing I like. My two favorites are probably blue cheese and poppy seed. At work, we have Ken's blue cheese and I like it. But anytime I buy Ken's at the grocery store, it's totally different than what we have at work. The taste is terrible, and the "chunky" is NOT chunky. I don't think I've ever had a poppy seed dressing that I don't like, but I can almost never find it here.

What's your favorite salad dressing?

Where did you get the stuff you had tonight? I hope it wasn't from a restaurant, or you may be disappointed like I was with the blue cheese.

How else could you enjoy a salad unless it tastes like a Big Mac?

I loooove French dressing. I wish it wasn't so bad for me. I smother the salad until it's just orange.
I'll settle for italian dressing tho.

as a kid i loved french, now it's russian anytime i'me out (or more likely it's bastard cousin thousand island when they say they don't have russian). also kicks ass on corned beef and pastrami with coleslaw. at home it's mostly balsamic vinaigrette.

Really is amazing stuff.

And making your own honey mustard couldn't be easier. Mayo, mustard, honey, salt, pepper. Once you get the base down you can hype it up with lemon juice, hot sauce, etc.

I used to love this shit (original flavor, not the others) when I was a kid but rarely use it anymore.
It may have had more to do with the awesome horns on the bottle than the actual dressing.
It's usually Honey Mustard for me now. I never had it until I was 17 and I still remember where I was and the girl that I was with when I first tried it.
I should have fucked her proper for turning me onto such a delicious condiment. Maybe I'll look her up. Paul Newman's Honey Mustard is tits.http://www.viewpoints.com/images/review/2008/96/20/1207443600-13416_full.jpg

I rotate between several of the Newman's Own Italians and vinegarettes. I think my favorite one is either the tuscan or family style Italian.

I also like french. There is a brand that makes french with blue cheese crumbles mixed in which is very tasty. I think it might be Marie's.

Thebazile78

If you're looking for a bleu cheese dressing, try Marie's; I like it best out of the store/pre-made dressings that I've tried. It's usually in the produce section, in a refrigerated case.

I eat it with celery, carrots, broccoli, wings ... or, occasionally, with Triscuits.

I hate ranch dressing. I hate Russian dressing. I hate French dressing. And I DESPISE Thousand Island. Cream or mayonnaise based dressings make me ill.

I've mixed up my own vinaigrettes with good vinegar or citrus and some nice olive oil and fresh herbs. I've also used the "Good Seasons" packets. Mixing your own vinaigrette for salad isn't difficult. And by switching up the proportions of oil to acid, you can play with it enough to make your own marinades. (Which I have done.)

If we're out, I'll ask for oil & vinegar. Unless we're at Longhorn because I actually enjoy the chipotle ranch there (and I ask for it on the side, usuallly for dipping my croutons in, so I don't eat too much of it and make myself sick.)

The place I used to work had an awesome salad. If I remember right it was spinach with a warmed-up bacon vinaigrette dressing. And I mean pieces of bacon, not ground up. It may sound gross, but it is tasty.

I stopped buying dressing once I read how much sugar they put in Fat Free dressing just to make it palatable. I've got the Black-N-Decker Gizmo, which I think is great. They even have markings on the side to add ingredients for dressing recipes if you don't have your own. Hell of a lot easier than whisking a vinaigrette too.

Well, I really like that orange ginger dressing they give at Japanese restaurants, so I looked up a recipe a while ago. I never knew the main ingredient was carrot. Here is the recipe:

Emperor Ginger Salad Dressing

From Recipes Wiki

<script type="text/javascript">if (!window.onloadFuncts) { var onloadFuncts = [];}onloadFuncts[onloadFuncts.length] = function() { if (window.showTocToggle) { window.tocShowText = "show"; window.tocHideText = "hide"; showTocToggle();}};</script>

Ingredients

1 1/2 finely chopped ginger root (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Ginger_root)
1/4 Cup(s) chopped Onion (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Onion)
1/4 Cup(s) chopped carrot (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Carrot)
2 Tablespoon(s) chopped celery (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Celery)
1/2 Cup(s) soy sauce
1 Cup(s) peanut oil (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Peanut_oil)
1/2 Cup(s) white vinegar (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/White_vinegar)

Directions

Blend together Onion (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Onion), carrot (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Carrot) and celery (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Celery) until very fine.
Add other ingredients, including freshly ground black pepper (http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Black_pepper) if desired.
Shake well before use.
Best made a day ahead for flavors to meld.
