I know they aren't the best place to get salads, but let's face it, not all of us have the foresight to pack a healthy lunch or can afford to go to a sit down meal for lunch.

I've been hesitant to try them but I have discovered Chick-fil-A salads and I love them. I recommend the Chargrilled Chicken Southwest Salad or the Crispy Chicken Strips Salad.

What have you tried that you liked (or hated)?

Wendy's makes some kind of Asian salad with oranges, almonds, crunchy noodles, and I think some kind of sweet sesame sauce. I don't like oranges in my salad, so I take them out, but after that, it's pretty good.

well, according to that list of worst foods I posted the other day please stay away from the Taco Bell Salad with chilli and tortillia shell. It had a million calories.

Also no matter where you get salad, leave out the croutons and use a light dressing instead of the heavy creamy ones.

Personally the salads and soups I love are from Panera Bread.
They have a 2 for 1 deal where you get a half a salad and half a soup for around 6 bucks and their choices are pretty healthy.
Love their Harvest Salad
Orchard Harvest
Field greens, crisp romaine, dried cherries, fresh pears, Gorgonzola, toasted pecans & our cherry balsamic vinaigrette.

I eat it without the chicken and they have all the nutrition up there on their sites

Arbys has good salads with NON FRIED options.

THe second you toss fried foods in you'll most likely better off with a burger.

Before I retired I would go over to Kroger's (grocery store) and make my own. I do not trust the fast food joints.

That is a great way to get a salad. Price Chopper has good ones too. But you have to be able to ignore the germ factor with those things because if I start thinking about that I can't eat it.

The one near the Texas Medical Center has a lady who is always cleaning the bar plus the sneeze guard is so low I sometimes would bump my head on it when looking down to grab the veggies. I will not get a salad from a salad bar unless it looks clean.

Surf Taco's taco salad is really good, and quite healthy (175 calories) if you ask them to hold the sour cream and cheese and abstain from eating the tortilla bowl.

Of course, I kinda forget to be healthy when I get there...

I randomly came out having a cesaer salad from Quiznos and it was really good.

I used to eat Wendy's chicken BLT salad with lowfat ranch, minus the croutons but Wendys has now switched to using breaded, precooked chicken that they warm up and put on the salad when you order it, it tastes like a pile of salt on the salad.

Can't eat Panera anymore and they were never that great, Saladworks is ok-i don't know if you consider that fast food perse.

I haven't had a Wendy's salad in well over a year. They use to be decent for fast food, but the last time I had one, it was this watery gross mess. There was nothing I liked about it.

I like their half salad/soup/sandwhich combo, but can only eat it so often. Their orchid harvest salad is good and they use to have a raspberry/mandarin orange salad that I enjoyed. Now, I just make my own replica of that salad and bring it to work. With the walnuts, dressing and gorgonzola I know it's really not too healthy and loaded with calories and fat, but I like it. The only thing I didn't like was their tomato soup, it tasted like they opened a can of tomato sauce and poured it in a bowl.

When i started my job 3 years ago i would go to Panera everrrrrrrrrrrrry day with a girl i work with.

Now, i hear the word Panera and i get that vomit feeling in my stomach. Just can't do it.

I've tried one of the Quizno's flat bread salads and liked it. I've had a few to date.

We don't have Panera anywhere near my job so that's out. I need to be better about bringing my lunch, I just hate eating in the office. I go out every day and eat in my car for the full hour so I can get away from my desk and work people. It helps me stay in a better mood throughout the day. It's hard to bring food you have to warm up and then go sit outside in your car. Then I just look like a dick.

A couple months ago I think I ate there 3 days in a row and haven't been back since. But I'm building up a jonesing for them again. I like their tea selection too. I always cheat and throw a couple tea bags in my cup cause I like it strong.

I feel the same way about Quizzno's as you do about Panera.
I liked it at first but all from chicken to pita bread on top has a distinctive flavor from the oil/ herb mix they use and it makes me sick to even think about it.
They are also bad at substituting items, which at Panera you can tell them to leave things out or add things in.
I never heard of Salad Works.

Ohh Aggie, I just want to hug you right now. I can totally relate. We don't have a cafeteria here because it's a rather small dept. We do have a small room where you can eat your lunch, but it's really not used that often. When it is, it's just the same people I have to look at the rest of the day and all they do is whine and talk about recipes and coupons. I avoid that room like the plague. I don't like to eat at my desk all the time cause then it doesn't feel like I'm getting a break. Luckily, when the weather is nice I can eat outside.

I like Applebee's salads. I get them to go so I count them as fast food.

how much do you think is reasonable to pay for a fast food salad?

hammersavage

I'll say $6-8. Applebees is like $9 so maybe they shouldn't count.

To get a half salad at Applebees it's $7 and change, while their salads are around $9.

There's a little place around the corner from me that will whip up a Wint-O-Green Lifesaver and Orange Tic Tac salad for me in a jiff. Quite tasty.

And is there anything better than a salad that gives you a sugar rush? I submit that there is not.

I've never been able to bring myself to order a salad at McDonalds. I figure, if I've made the commitment to eat so poorly, why bother pretending with a salad? McRib or Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese, thank you!

The pictures look delicious though.

to reduce its calories, don't add the sour cream, use half the dressing pack and don't eat the tortilla strips.

Fast food salads, eh?

Do these fantasy meals come with a side of fries regardless of whether or not you ordered them?

I used to get that, too. But one day all the lettuce was red. So I threw it in the garbage and never got one again.

They opened a place called Tossed, here. It's kinda pricey, but it's totally worth it.

Sorry. That was directed to the New Yorkers mostly.

I have pictures of me buying a 12-pack in the Frederick, MD Sheetz. I wish PA would get with the times.

Edit: Wawa makes a mean salad and sub as well.

Sheetz goes down into Virginia.

I would usually stick with their garlic fries which is basicly fries floating in garlic sauce.
