I worked at a supermarket as a teenager. I hated having to work but loved having money so it was bittersweet. I was a cart-boy and then a cashier and then I worked in the seafood department. It was terrible but I have so many memories of being a jackass and screwing off that made this job tolerable.
You?
I was a busboy at a Mexican restaurant during the summer going into my senior year of high school. Long hours, hard work, shitty pay, but I used to get absolutely HAMMERED with the chef in the back room. He was a big guy named Jose and whenever he saw me he'd yell "Gregorio...gasolina." That meant to grab a couple of Dos Equis and we'd chug 'em.
I don't know how I made it home from there some nights.

I used to get drunk when I worked at the supermarket. It was fun during the summer when I pushed carts and even better when I could steal some beers from the cold beer cooler and drink at the loading docks.
After that I hung drywall during summers because it was great pay and I would get high before, during and after work with all the "serious" carpenters. That was good times.

I bagged groceries for about six months in high school. It was back in the days of paper bags only and returnable soft drink bottles. People would drive up after they checked out and we would put their groceries in their cars for them. I was awful at the bagging part, but pretty good at loading.
After that I washed dishes for a couple years...at K-Mart. I didn't mind the dishwashing, but I hated cleaning the grease trap.

Delivering pizza was lots of fun for a while in college. Never got robbed, work from 4-11, show up to parties with free pizza, cash tips, listen to the radio while driving. Mostly posh neighborhoods in the country.
When things went downhill... see "what you did to get back at your work" thread.

yeah, I did a couple stints delivering pizza when I was in the Air Force. I made almost as much doing that as I did from the military, but the uniform wasn't as cool.

This is a list of my shittier jobs. My wife jokes that I've worked everywhere ...
taxi driver
mall photobooth tech and delivery guy (seen Amelie)
diver (sailboat cleaning and repair)
cover band frontman and rythym guitarist (kind of on the fence about this one.. but it sucked mostly esp. to the end - did it for 8 years)
auto parts store delivery and warehouse
Michael's frame dept. sales and framing
House painter (I did interior too but that's not bad)
Marina dry dock detailer
waiter men's club in a country club (spilled a beer on someone once - surry)
Boiler Maintenance Helper
The worst part of the last job was climbing through a manway in the top of a giant boiler and pulling your body in to unbolt what are called baffles. 3/4 inch nuts - about 40 of them... middle of summer.
They all had their charm and they all taught me important lessons ... so I can't bitch too much but I've never done anything I wanted to. I'm hoping the second half of my life goes a little different.
All you can do is try and do the best you can with what you have.

Everybody is listing shitty jobs or just random run of the mill jobs they have had. The best job ever has got to be the guy who got to film 2 girls 1 cup

I worked at a bar-b que place in high school.I started out as a dishwasher and worked my way up to the kitchen and finally, running the pit.Oh the prestige.I went home smelling like hickory smoke for three years. The good part was that we could steal all the keg beer we could slam while the manager was counting the take every night. We also would accidentally drop some racks of ribs or half chickens into the trunk now and then.

I've worked, on and off, at the same supermarket for the past 20 years. All in the produce department. The pay sucks, the customers are snobs and can all die but my co-workers are some of the craziest, funniest and overall best people I've ever met. I've worked with them all: the drunks, the potheads, cokeheads, the happily/unhappily married, hot older women, hot younger women, too many types to name.....I actually look forward to going to work just to be around some of these people.

first jobs, wow......
youngster mowing lawn, delivering papers from a bicycle,
14 and 15 washing dishes in a small airport cafeteria, progressed into kitchen work and catering. Got to work via bicycle too
Also I had first sexual favor received from "experienced"airport cafeteria waitress. sharing tips!
I also worked in a print shop doing grunt work, which lead into connections to other shitty print jobs....
eventually got a somewhat pro job in the graphics industry, wound up with more than 20 in the printing industry and still doing it on a much smaller scale on my own.

Washing dishes at a nursing home when I was a junior in high school. The work sucked but one of my co-workers would bring in some vodka and mix it with the OJ or cranberry juice in the fridge. We just had to remember which container was plain juice and which one had the vodka.

too lazy to post from memory:
when i was 16 i got a job at a burger king making either 3.25 or 3.75 (can't recall which was the minimum wage...that's what i got). i did it all, cooking, cleaning, shoveling snow (the store and parking lot took up an entire block...i shoveled snow for an entire 8 hour shift at a time), and cashiering. my favorite, they got the bright idea to put me out by the drive-thru speaker to collect money before the cars would drive up to the window to collect their food. basically, i sat in the middle of the parking lot with a few hundred dollars on me. i weighed about 120 pounds and the neighborhood was shady, at best. that's part of the reason i ripped them off for hundreds of dollars when i worked the registers.

Even through 108 degree days in August and 5 degree blizzards in January, pushing carts at a Sams Club still holds some fond memories. Some days I'd take the weather extremes rather than sit in my office for another 10 hour day.

I worked at a country club on LI in HS and during summers in college. Sometimes the bartender would forget to lock up the tap in the lunch dining room. We'd get so hammered.
I worked at the Office of Residential Life one summer during college. I got free room and wound up living with a lot of fun people. The downside was that we'd only get paid once a month, but that was a GREAT summer.

I also started out at a grocery store and I vaguely remember one shift spent coming down from a mind-bending LSD trip that I started at school that morning. It was a small store and the two or three cool people that I worked with let me just face shelves. They did start bombing shit over the aisles at me which freaked me out.
I had a good time delivering KFC for awhile. I worked for a company in Utah where we hiked deliquents around the desert for a "rehabesque" experience that worked wonders for me when I was 16. I worked with some really cool people out there. I also had a job as one of the "kids" that comes to your house trying to sucker you into magazine subscriptions so that I could "win" a trip to Europe or some shit. That was a lot of fun. I never thought I would have to sleep off a hangover in a Port-o-John to avoid having to talk to people. It wasn't as bad as it sounds.

This might sound ghey, but during the week, I'd work at the public library (then I'd waitress at the country club). The librarian HATED me for various reasons. Other than the way I looked, they hated that I hid in the stacks and just read.

best "worst" job would have been making nipples one summer.... and no you perverts not the good nipples but rather pipe nipples
http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/fullsize/nipple-long.jpg
worst because it was an absolutely filthy job where you got covered in machine oil, had to work with all sorts of nasty paint and solvents and your hands got ripped to shreds because of the shards & burrs
best because I met some decent people, made an obscene amount of money for my age and could slack off whenever I wanted to
