View Full Version : Third and final Worst of the Best Oscar Winners
Finishing off the last 30 years - and unlike the last two (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76953), the absolute shit is at a minimum, however that doesn't mean that there isn't a couple of head scratchers...

I'm gonna go Out of Africa.
Admittedly, I have only seen about half of the films on the list, but it is the only one of those that I didn't enjoy.

"Out of Africa" to me is a prime example of that big, sweeping historical epic that Oscar loves to honor that you soon realize is just a total snoozer.

Out of that list, the only one I actually have seen is Amadeus.
And I've probably seen it over 100 times.
Partially because I love it, but also because it was the default lesson plan for our choirmaster's sick days when I was in high school.
I dunno what exactly it is about it ... maybe I just have a soft spot for Tom Hulce.

I voted for Ordinary People, just because it beat out Raging Bull. Never seen Out of Africa.

Out of Africa. It's far and away the most forgettable of all those flicks.
It sucks that Ordinary People came out when it did, because Raging Bull is SO much better, but OP is still an outstanding film.

Terms of Endearment.
Fuck that "Coming of age" nonsense.
Platoon or Deer Hunter is definitely the best.
