On the O&A show, they're talking about how Al Duke bought a Rolling Stones Pinball machine to try to "buy Opie's love." Opie refuses to play it.

Opie should smash it and make Al buy him a new pinball machine.

If he really wanted to make up, maybe he should have gotten the old playboy pin ball machine for them. Spent alot of hours on that machine and quarters for that fact, oh the wonder years.
Wasnt there a Dallas Cowgirls machine too.

Opie is a pitiful little man. He is an unfunny hanger-on who needs to put down others to feel good about himself.

I think Opie's funny. Al should realize there's no chance for Opie to like him and stop trying to impress him

I think Opie should just play the dam game and get over it, and I'm a BIG O&A Fan, but Al is not all that bad,

I gotta agree with Taz and jay. I'm no fan of Al, but Opie acted like a real jerk. I can see where Al is coming from. It's an uncomfortable situation passing Opie in the hallway and not even saying "hi" and Al doesn't want R&F to in any way be affected by Opie's dislike of him. So he tried to do something that would maybe smooth things over and make the workplace situation a little more comfortable for everyone. That's all Al was trying to do. He certainly wasn't trying to be buddy-buddy with Opie. I'm sure Al would have loved to just tell Opie to stick the pinball machine up his ass, but Al is smart enuf to know that Opie holds power at that station, so he can't say anything like that. Opie apparently thinks he is so damn high & mighty and that he is too good to say "hi" to someone that he deems not to be as good as him. All I can say is I hope Anthony never decides to leave Opie because then he'll see what it is like to be yesterday's news. Anthony has more talent in his little pinkie than Opie has in his whole body. And Anthony is also the bigger man. He might not like Al, but he at least will say "hi" to him and not be a jerkoff like Opie.

Anytime you buy a gift to resolve a conflict, even if as a "gesture", instead of just trying to talk to someone is a pretty weak attempt. It implies someone can be bought off, and it is a lack of respect. I would have found it to be an insult above anything else.

TAZ, JAY and BARBIE - I agree with you. Opie is being a jerk about this.

Al was unquestionably wrong for breaking his fooz ball table. He got him another. He had no reason to get him this pinball machine other than as a gesture of friendship. Opie's rejection of the spirit of the gift is mean spirited. (I notice that he didn't return the machine though.)

I knew Opie was going to smash it!
And I'll also agree that Opie does act like a tool when he acts like "crazy, psycho guy" to make up for himself not being funny.
Didn't Al also say thathe didn't buy it?

Opie is nothing but an attention-hungry asshole. Maybe Al shouldn't have gone as far as he did, but opie went too far! If Opie had done that to me(and I would not have bought him a pinball machine-maybe a hershey bar) I would have kicked his sorry ass half way across mid-town!!

as dickily as this sounds, I sort of understand where Opie was cmoing from. He tried to tell Al to leave him alone in conventional terms and sometimes the only way to tell someone to fuck off is as intense as Opie did it. It made a statement that nothing else could.

I feel bad for Al usually but I mean come on.
