I pulled a muscle in my back, and although I'm starting to get used to dealing with day to day shit when my back is fucked up, for some reason I can't find a comfortable way to really lay down or even like kinda sit in a way I could sleep. ive gotten barely an hour of real sleep a night over the past week id say and I usually am a person who needs to sleep to function right. Im starting to run out of gas and get snappy with people and I just wanna sleep. Smoking doesnt even help.

Whiskey and a couple pain killers.

Take 2 of these and call me in the morning:

Actually get a warm water bottle, strap it around with an ace bandage or something and just try to relax.

Good luck. Feel better.

give Kevin a call, get in your sleeping bag, and I think you know the rest.

I just got this issue fixed. 3 visits to the chiropractor and I am as good as new. He used a muscle stimulator (TENS) machine for about 15 mins then did an adjustment. By the second visit I was able to stand upright again. I still have a bit of tenderness but nothing like last week. The other thing he told me to do was to ice the area, not heat. If the muscle is inflamed, heating it will only aggravate the inflammation, the ice pack will reduce it. It really does help. God bless Robaxacet, us lucky Canadian bastards can buy it over the counter, it really helped at night when I needed to sleep.

I had the same problem about a week or so ago when I pulled something shovelling snow. I wound up putting a bunch of blankets on the floor and slept there. The firmness really helped. I was feeling better in about 2-3 days.

Certain sleeping positions can trigger back pain by causing poor alignment of the spine and the back muscles being disproportionately stretched. The curve of the lower back gets extended unduly and there is stress on the neck muscles as well, for those that like to rest on their stomach, thus triggering off back pain while sleeping. The ideal sleeping position to be maintained for all suffering from back pain is one that allows the natural curves of the spine to be supported while sleeping.
Recommendations for easing the problem

It would be comforting for people suffering from back pain to sleep (http://backpain.ygoy.com/types/sleeping.php#) on a firm mattress or use a bed board; while sleeping on the side, put a pillow under the head and one between your legs before bending your knees. This posture has eased the discomfort of many suffering from back pain while sleeping.

I go to the chiropractor once a month for maintenance but on the occasions I do pull/hurt something he uses that machine. It's usually fine within a week if I go 2 or 3 times.

Sorry Snoogs, not sleeping sucks. I hope you can get some vicodin or something. But what would really knock you out is some cough syrup (purple stuff) promethazine with coedine. It's the perfect drug.
