Such disregard for human life.

Explanation? He's an incompetent doctor that should not be allowed to treat patients. I scanned the article, and it mentioned that he has had to pay out for several malpractice suits over the last few years.

wow, 23 weeks... I am amazed by any woman actually waiting that long to make such a decision.

I am just wondering what could possibly be said in front of the State Board of Medicine ... how on earth can you spin it to not have your license removed?

It's just awful.

My opinion on abortion has nothing to do with the story. It shouldn't even be brought up.

I'm sure he will try to say that he was doing the best he could in a chaotic emergency situation. Which is obviously utter bullshit. I'm interested to see if they doctored any records. There are guidelines that medical professionals must follow regarding record keeping, and cases like this usually reveal that someone altered the chart notes in order to match up with their mistakes. Disgusting.

The article stated that both sides of the abortion issue thought this was disgusting. Thus the thread title.

it's sickening enough that there's a chance he'll keep his license ... the fact that there's even a review is insane to me.

who's worse? the dr or the 'mom'?

was the dr. even there when the whole thing went down?

It does suck, but these license reviews are put in place for a reason, innocent until proven guilty. I'm sure the people sitting on the Ethics board will have to restrain themselves from the urge to choke the man.

I can see why it's there, but considering there are mandatory minimums for such lesser things one could imagine a law "if your practice botches an abortion and tries to hide it by throwing out the dead baby in a cardboard box, you automatically lose your license" ... I would support that.

Of course it did.

It's a murder. A baby was thrown away. It doesn't matter where or how or what almost became of the baby. There it was, alive and kicking, and it was thrown away. The person who threw it away should be charged with murder. Possibly the girl with accessory, if she knew it happened.

The doctor? He was late. Yea, bad for a doctor but shit happens. The procedure should have never started.

This is just a murder story, like a baby found in bathroom trashcan during the prom.

it's all pretty awful, but I think the throwing away of the baby in cardboard takes the gold medal for this one.

Kind of like saying the alcohol had nothing to do with a drunk driver mowing down a bus stop full of people. Of course abortion is a factor...

How old am I? I can remember when an abortion cost $350

Doctor should absolutely not be late in this situation. In a late term abortion, it's up to a 3 day procedure. On the first day, they insert seaweed laminara into the cervix, which gradually absorbs liquid and slowly opens the cervix. They then check on the 2nd day and either perform the procedure if the cervix is open enough, or insert more laminara and have the patient come back the next day.

Patient comes in with a wide open cervix and procedure should be started immediately - due to risk of this happening - or - risk of bacteria in the cervix. There should have been a backup doctor if they could not find the doctor on staff.

I'm adamantly pro-choice, and situations like this hurt the cause. Doctor should have his license taken away.

Early term abortions do. I'm surprised the article said it was to cost $1,250. Late term abortions can be well over $2k, you have to put the person under and it's a mutiple day, more riskier procedure.

That I did not know.

Yes, doctor should lose his license, but that other owner should be charged with murder.

That is the first step to banning this fuck from ever having a license.

It does suck, but these license reviews are put in place for a reason, innocent until proven guilty. I'm sure the people sitting on the Ethics board will have to restrain themselves from the urge to choke the man.

If I were on the board they'd arrest me 2 minutes into the review.

mommy paid her money and she got her scrape - end of story? And that -- little fetus that was born alive, and took a breath, and had a slim but legitimate chance of survival -- is that.
