I'm over them. My mother just gave me a hallmark "Congratulations" card, bless her heart. It made it all the way to my house before I threw it straight in the trash can. What is the etiqutte on keeping these? Does it have to sit on my desk for a few days? A month? Can I just cut out the obligatory waiting period and throw it away immediately?
I appreciate the sentiment, but I feel that they are a little impersonal. A $3 hallmark card is an unnecessary formality. I would much prefer a personal note scribbled note on a scrap of paper over something store bought.
Thoughts?

I have no need for them, but Mrs.196 loves them so I buy them. When I get them, I keep then around for a couple days as a courtesy, but thats about it.

Christmas cards are nice to get. Living in Florida , you need something to make it seem more like winter. Otherwise, into the trash they go.

i bailed on these about 10 yrs ago
it just seems like a waste of money
they just clutter up after a while
and after a yr or 2 the wifey, who was a girlfriend then finally came aboard and liked the other things i got or did that had more sentimentality and staying power

I'm with you, man.
I hate getting cards. I always feel bad throwing them in the garbage, but what do you do with them?

I only keep the ones from my Grandma. And only then if she's written something personal in it. If she just signed her name, then I pitch it. I don't keep any of the other cards I get. I read it, appreciate the sentiment, then toss it in the garbage.
