Ladies, how would you
describe yourselves? Are
you longing to be a married
woman who prides herself
on raising her children and
tending to the house, or are
you a career woman who
can't even picture being so
"domestic"? Do you think
the Women's Lib movement
of the '70's has been a help
or a hindrance? I'd love to
hear your opinions.
Thanks.

uh...that's a tough one. i mean, i really cant see myself having a career in direct marketing, and although i want to get married one day, right now i have no desire to have kids, and that's only because i think i need to be more psychologically stable. when and if i get to a point where im ready to have kids, i'd love to be a stay at home mom and take care of everyone

G's next question will be "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Domestic? Ewwww ..no thanks. I have no desire to be married, I don't like kids and I can't cook. So I guess I'll have to go with career woman. Now I just have to find one of those http://www.plauder-smilies.de/happy/grlaugh.gif

Wow, am I the only woman on the board that actually wants to get married and have kids??? I don't want to do it right now, but I can definately see myself getting married someday and having a few kids. However, I don't think that that means I have to give up my career. It isn't a black or white issue...there are many shades of gray.

i'm not really sure about the first question.. i mean, i think i will probably get married, possibly have kids. i also see myself having a career and all that. why not have both?

as far as the women's lib movement... i think it's been both a help and a hinderance. back in the day, obviously, it was helpful. it was ridiculous how women were viewed and treated, and it was time that they stood up for the things that they deserved. however, like most things, many have taken it too far. i know women who consider themselves to be feminists who are just really stubborn and militant and are not helping themselves, or women in general. hating men and constantly arguing for your equality at a time when women are being treated pretty well is a problem. to me, a feminist should be a woman who doesn't let the fact that she's a woman stop her from doing anything she might want to, without always having to prove something. i have never let anybody tell me that i couldn't do or be something because i'm a woman, and i've never really had any problems. while i'm all for women and their rights, it seems that women's lib might be just a little outdated
