View Full Version : How much do you agree?

I have often wondered what percent of the opinions that Ron presents in the show that people here agree with. To be honest I tend to find myself agreeing with many more of Fez's opinion on things than I do with Ron even though I listen to every word he says on the show.

So thats the poll.
Aproximately what percent of the issues do you agree with Ron?

Kind of tough since I get the impression that Ron will take the "other" side just to keep a discussion going/entertaining. Not real sure I know the actual opinion of many of the radio personalities. That said, I probably agree with Ron side more than not.

I agree with Ron a lot but not all the time. Ron is a lot better of providing explinations of his opnions than Fez is for sure.

since i tend to agree with him most of the time, occasionally i'll steal rons arguments for my own discussions. however i won't try to use his jokes like some people have been called out by sheepy for doing

I do think that he takes positions to keep arguments going, and I couldnt disagree more with him about college sports, but I would say I agree with him somewhere in the 80-90% range.

Freedom of speech and annoyance at popcorn movies?? Who could disagree with that?

...please come forth and regale us with tales of Ronnie B's wisdom. Please come to the aid of us unwashed to spew your regurgitated wisdom. Or just take a Philosophy 101 night class at your local community college, and you'll get all these theories presented in a nice paper back book...

I agree with Ron a lot but certainly his talk is not always to make a point but to play a topic in a different direction. Or the direction he wants. Or to make a humorous point.
The man just lets the words come out and of course he makes great entertaining humor.

Most of the time he makes good common sense.

I've only disagreed Ron a couple of times in the past month or so. Once, he was using Jim's "avoid the geese!" joke and the other time he told Fez that doing CPR to the beat of "Staying Alive" was fake and just from a sitcom (The Office)
Considering how often I hear his talk, that's still astounding to have that few gripes.

Like mentioned above, Ron takes whatever side is opposite Fez or Dave just to get a discussion going. By nature then I disagree with him a lot. Shit, he disagrees with himself via previous statements based on that principle.

Then there's the times where's he's just totally off the fucking mark about what he's talking about. Like when Fez claimed he was straight edge, and Ron incredulously asked him if he could name even one ska band. Ska? What the fuck? Cause I thnk about 99.9% of the sXe scene revolved around hardcore bands.

Add to that the fact that I think Ron has music taste for shit, and I disagree with him a lot. But I think the fact that I disagree with him and he disagrees with everyone makes for a show that is incredibly entertaining. And his tactic actually works, which leads to conversations get that deeper and keep going where on other shows, you get two or three dudes who agree and it becomes a circle jerk.

I think most of his opinions are just to get a laugh or a rise out of someone. He's does a great job, but I doubt that all of his comments are he true opinions. I'll say I agree 85%.

On the things that they talk about that I actually have an opinion on, I'd say 70% or so. The only thing I regularly disagree with Ron on is movies, particularly animated stuff.

This thread is dumb. Do you think Ron gives out his real opinions all the time? Are you a real doctor? You seem like a rube to me.

like stc-dub said, ron vigorously explains and defends a position. maybe too vigorously sometimes. i think ron's background and childhood, like each of our own, comes through very vividly on some subjects. and while he shows great wisdom often, i think he has an idea of american society as a gritty post-industrial urban landscape on one end, cosmopolitan on the other end, and 'hayseeds' in the middle. i disagree with about half the counseling i've heard him give fez over the holiday time. i disagree with him often on politics (a subject that doesn't come up often) and his very colorful opinions on drugs and law. music and movies- i almost always agree with him on.

I disagree with his taste in movies and his mocking of people who play videogames that's pretty much it

this is the reason I started this thread
I am constantly surprised at how when ever takes a stand no matter how outlandish that people seem to fall in lock step with his opinion.

since, after 58 votes, none have selected '100%', i don't think your statement about 'lock step' is fair.

Example of an outlandish matter?

I agree with Ron on a lot of things. I also disagree with him on many things.

But, when he has his foot on my throat, I tend to agree more.

Not everyone agrees 100% of the time with him
Maybe what I meant is that if Ron were to postulate that say: the Sahara Desert is wet there would be a bunch of people who would call in and agree with him. He really is like the pied piper.

What did Ron say and people agree with that you disagreed with so much that it would make you write such a ridiculous statement?

For a lot of people on here every word ron says is gospel, the rest of us choose to listen for the comedic value and form our own opinions on matters

the problem with this poll is there is overlap in what should be discreet options. the second option should be 75 to 99; the fifth should be 1 to 24. that's the problem.

i picked 50+ but seeing how many folk took that one i might want to drop down a level.

Forgot to mention all the times that Ron has said Dave isn't funny. He did reveal in the post-show it's part of his thing, he thinks its his job to say that even when he wants to laugh his ass off.
Ron loves more genres of music than I do, don't share the taste for soul and classic fun and r&b. Granted "Brothers Gonna Work It Out" is now lodged in my head forever.

Also, his love of Richard Belzer. Ronnie loved the guy but I couldn't have listened to a more boring person.

I think the more accurate statement would be that a lot of people on here listen for the comedic value and form our own opinions on matters.

No one here takes every word Ron says as gospel. I just think that's your reaction to when Ron and many others agree on such a matter that you do not.

Besides, if Ron felt that he was talking to lemmings ready to follow him everywhere, I think he'd call us out.

i see your point, but i disagree. i dont really care if i agree with Ron or not, or if i agree with many others or not. I think just a lot of times I see people easily influenced by others and I think it's silly. It could be a man behind a radio mic or a guy on t.v. preaching the word of God. I see blind followers a lot and I laugh, thats all. Maybe my statement came off as too harsh, that wasn't what I was trying to do. But I do know this, I wouldnt see people posting calling other people "savages", using phrases like "popcorn movies", or ripping on things like steak sauce and the Transformers if some guy on a radio show didn't say it first. (just to clarify, in no way do i like steak sauce or most popcorn movies....im just making a point).

And I see your point, however I still think that is far from claiming people treat his word as "gospel".

I think we all pick up certain phrases, funny ways to look at things, and even different points of view on subjects, but then again I get that from strangers, friends, movies and other radio shows as well.

I think I am close to the 45-49%. I don't think what Ron says is law, but I don't think what anyone says is law, or agree with 100%. I think what most of what Ron says is smart and makes good points, but I don't always agree with it.

Ron might be the funniest man on the planet but some of his views I just don't agree. Especially his movie views. What's art and what is not...sorry he is a movie snob...but the funniest one their is.
