I agree totally with Dave here: the "French plantation" scene in Apocalypse Now is utterly useless. Everything comes to a grinding halt so we can have a long discussion of colonialism.
There aren't really any of the additional scenes in that cut that add anything, really.

To me, the best version of the movie is the "Final Cut" with narration. That would rule.
But it's a "movie hipster" opinion to blast the narration. Never mind that the story that the studio forced on there is totally false. Ridley Scott has said that the movie was originally conceived with the narration, and Harrison Ford has denied he intentionally did a bad reading to make it unusable.

I have two problems with the narration.
First, Ridley Scott didn't intend there to be narration, so it really doesn't mesh great with the story.
Second, Ford's delivery isn't great. I don't think he thought it was a great idea, and it shows.
Plus, that cut didn't have key scenes suggesting Deckard being a replicant.

Maybe Ford didn't intentionally do a bad reading. But I still think it was a bad reading.
I didn't know that he had conceived it with the narration. I still like it better without. Call me movie hipster, but I don't like the narration.

How fucking old is Blowhard? When was the last double feature? 1945?
There were a lot of double headers in his favorite decade, the 1970's. More with Drive-ins, which he mentioned.
Plus, I don't think every movie had an intermission. Some of the longer older movies, like The Ten Commandments, did, but I don't think Casablanca did.
Or was he just saying that the longer movies like Titanic, Lord of the Rings need an intermission.

Well, if you step out of the movies and get into the novels and other stuff created around Star Wars, there's a lot of stuff in which Boba Fett is a major character. So that character has been fleshed out a lot, just not in the movies we've all seen.
Yes, but the only reason that character became such a big character in the books, etc. was because he became such a popular "cult" character with a group of fans based on Empire.

I want EVERYONE to love LOST, and am upset when they dont.
Further, I am upset at people who say they love it, but after talking to them,
it's obvious they just dont get it. I am obsessed.
I think that makes me a geek, yeah?
Yea, I might be a Geek about Lost - although I don't play the on-line games or clues. I'm strictly about the show. So that might make me a dork.
Uh oh... are we here Geeks, Dorks or Nerds?
The only time I have ever come close to "dressing up" is when I wear my Tim Wakefield jersey to Sox games.
