Tomorrow is the final TACS broadcast.

Adam's show was one of a kind. Topical, funny, full of content... but never "zany" morning zoo radio.
I've listened to him every single day for well over 10 - years.

Mahalo, my friend.

My favorite part of the article is.....
Some speculation suggests the purported change could leave KLSX personality Tom Leykis out of a job as well.

If you've never seen THE HAMMER, may I suggest you add it to your Netflix queueueue.

It's actually a sweet little movie... almost a chick flick... about a boxer who gives it one last try.
Adam wrote, starred, produced, and edited it.

Quality stuff.

I tried watching it but found myself too bored with it. And I usually love whatever Adam does.

I loved his tv show, The Adam Carolla Project.

CBS is supposed to flip one station in NY and LA to top 40 to combat clear channel on the pop front

with KLSX (free-FM) being the station in LA, maybe k-rock is the NY pick to battle Z-100 (maybe that's why booker's back)

Bored?
I guess I can see that. It's not a HILARIOUS movie.
But it's definitely a sincere little film. The ending is anything but predictable too.

Did you see him get to the Olympic tryouts? It picks up a little momentum once they really start focusing on competing.

I like the Carolla show too, I listen to the pod-casts every day. CBS is dropping the Free-FM format in LA so all the shows on 97.1 are canceled. Leykis is on so many stations he'll probably broadcast from one of them.

Great, another music station...

I stole their gimmick where everybody huddles up, puts their hands in the center, and then Adam says, "On three, every one walk quietly away with out saying a word."

Miss that show.

WJFK might be flipping? I think that would be the nail in the coffin for the hot talk (or whatever they call it) format. They used to be one of the only stations in the country with success with that format, and one of the few holdouts when the FreeFM format was dumped across the country.

Apparently they're pulling the plug on Leykis. Regardless of how you feel about the guy, he was #1 in Men 25-54. Frosty, Heidi and Frank, who I've never heard, were #1 in mid-days in LA and they're gone too.

This isn't good for radio. Or for those of us who are fans of talk radio...

I'm actually surprised that the FM talk format is dying.
Why?
Because subscription-based radio hasn't really gained any traction, and there are DEFINITELY a lot of adults out there that don't wanna hear Beyonce Timberlake every 28 minutes.

The good news is, Adam is going release a free daily podcast beginning this Monday. For now... it'll be a solo thing but, he plans on expanding the show to include guests and callers in the very near future.

Very cool.

WJFK here in DC was one of the first "guy talkers" in the county, when they paired up Howard in the morning with his former rivals, Don and Mike, in the afternoon - and now they are CBS radios last one left.

Over all they get hammered in the ratings, but they still do really well in key demographics where they can get big ad bucks - and they are able to do it with local programming until 7pm, which is impressive (imo) - still, there are rumors of the format being flipped to "sports talk" soon, now that CBS pulled the plug elsewhere.

Carolla had a quick little comment on Bill Simmons podcast about not being upset with being fired with pay. Mentioned that when OnA were dumped he and Jimmy Kimmel had opposing views. Kimmel thought it had to be hard for them being fired, Carolla said F that they were still getting paid. Whats wrong with getting 200k in the mail each month. That's what he dreamed about working construction.

For those of you who know the whole saga/backstory with Ace and Danny Bonaduce, it's worth listening to Adam call into Danny's (shitty) show to set Danny straight.

Danny was being a douchebox... and Adam HAD to call in live. God how I love to hate Danny.

Interesting part in the middle when Carolla states that they were planning to bring him to NY to start over on another CBS owned station, but nixed those plans when it was decided that the station he was going to go to in NY was going to be flipping. I wonder if the station he was supposed to go to was K-Rock.

Penn. Can you please summarize what was said during Conway? I can't hit the link here on my phone. TY.

Frosty of Frosty, Heidi and Frank and some other former station people were in the studio with Tim Conway,Jr. Carolla called in and someone mentioned the disagreement with Bonaduce. Carolla prefaced by saying Danny was a nice guy off the air but he has this on air persona of creating conflict. He then said basically the same thing he said on Danny's show, he spoke to Jack Silver, they decided a week was too long for good-byes so they agreed on two days so Tim could have a goodbye show since the station was going to flip at 5:00pm Friday and Tim's show would be done since he regularly comes on at 7:00pm.

You shoud also listen to the podcast of Frosty, Heidi and Frank's last show (I had never heard them before, the show seems decent). Anyway, they were drinking for the whole show and in, I believe, hour 4 Frank said that the reason the station was flipping was because of Leykis. Apparently everyone on the station including them and Carolla took a pay cut to keep the station on the air, but Leykis refused so that's why everyone is losing their jobs (he also made some humorous personal comments about Leykis).

CBS Bets on Carolla's 'Ace'

By Josef Adalian

CBS is staying in the Adam Carolla business, greenlighting a half-hour comedy pilot starring the comic/radio personality.

Jimmy Kimmel's Jackhole production banner, BermanBraun and CBS Paramount Network Television are behind the project, dubbed "Ace in the Hole," according to a source familiar with the pickup. Mr. Carolla will star as a husband and dad who works as a driving instructor.

News of the greenlight comes just days after CBS' radio division ended Mr. Carolla's nationally syndicated talk show. That move came in conjunction with the decision to flip the format of Mr. Carolla's flagship station, Los Angeles' KLSX 97.1 FM, to Top 40.

Mr. Carolla wrote the pilot for "Ace in the Hole" with Kevin Hench. The two collaborated on the 2007 feature "The Hammer."

BermanBraun is having a strong pilot season at CBS, with "Ace" the banner's third pilot pickup at the network.

Meanwhile, industry insiders confirmed Saturday that CBS has decided to push development of its drama pilot "Confessions of a Contractor" due to casting issues.

Honestly, my opinion is the internet is whats killing talk radio. Think about it. 20 years ago you could walk into just about any office work environment and you would hear some kind of radio on. Whether it was talk radio or just regular radio. That was pretty much their sole form of entertainment. Now? Most of them can just surf online during their office downtime (kind of like Im doing now). Either on message boards, reading current news, playing solitaire, fantasy sports, facebook, etc.

Adam's show was great.

He really has the ability to do a good interview as well as going on a rant over a particular topic of interest. He is very entertaining and his "firing" was only the station changing formats to save money.

He has his podcasts and after two days he has over 1/4 million people downloading already. He had Dr Drew on today's show and will have guests frequently. The desire to do podcasts when he has a guaranteed 10 months left on his contract... and is paying for the service for his fans.

I would take a shorter show (30-40 minute podcasts) over any other show on radio.... and I have been a R&F fan for quite a while.

I cancelled my SiriusXM subscriptions and enjoy my iPod 24/7. I have 15GB of music as well as several podcasts that meet all my audio entertainment needs.

The internet will end up killing satellite radio over time.

I think whats killing talk radio it simple. The corporations wont allow them to talk. Radio needs public events to garner attention, anything that gets attention scares the bosses. So its all not allowed, and for the most part we are stuck with really great ideas, and talented people, who arent allowed to follow thru.

And... it's the highest ranking podcast on iTunes. (does that make it the highest rated podcast in the world??! Wow.)

Amazingly, the show that was just canned by CBS still ranks at #19. I guess his fans went on a feeding frenzy before CBS pulls the episodes off of iTunes.

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many fans of Adam Carolla on the East Coast. I have been a huge Adam Carolla fan for a long time. And up till I discovered Ron and Fez, I was a big Frosty, Heidi, and Frank fan as well. So KLSX was my favorite station here in LA and I was definitely dissapointed when they dropped the bomb that they were switching formats. I am sort of glad that the ACS never moved to NYC because that would be like Ron and Fez broadcasting out of LA. It wouldn't feel right. Although, Fez would fit in perfect with the West Hollywood crowd if you know what I mean. So far, I have downloaded every episode of Adam's podcast and I have to be honest, it feels like a perfect fit for him. I always thought he belonged on uncensored media and the fact that there are no annoying commercials and live reads or an uptight company to answer to is just icing on the cake. He's having on his usual friends as guests at first but I am interested to see how deep his contact list goes. I can't wait for Jay Mohr to be on.
