View Full Version : Coffeemate: fun, safe, creamer, or devil-spawned poison?
Hey Dr. Steve,
At the coffee machine in my office, they keep the little Half & Halfs and parmalat milk in and out of the fridge constantly and every time I would open one, they'd be curdled and chunky. So I started using the powdered CoffeeMate. Is this stuff okay in small doses?

here are the ingredients for coffeemate:
Ingredients
Vegetable Oil (Partially Hydrogenated Coconut or Palm Kernel and Canola, Hydrogenated Palm, Soybean, Cottonseed and/or Safflower), Corn Syrup Solids, Sodium Caseinate (A Milk Derivative), Dipotassium Phosphate (Moderates Coffee Acidity), Natural and Artificial Flavors, Monoglycerides (Prevents Oil Separation), Salt, Sodium Aluminosilicate, Sucralose, Datem, Acesulfame Potassium (Non-nutritive Sweetener), Yeast.
it's all so fake, but in small amounts doesn't seem to have anything grossly dangerous in it. I'm guessing the sodium aluminosilicate is to keep the powder from clumping. God forbid we have to use clumpy fake coffee creamer. Aluminum isn't good for you in large doses, but although they don't give the amount, I bet it's a tiny amount in each teaspoon.
It at least has less fat than cream, that's something, I guess.

CoffeeMate is surprisingly good in tomato soup. Especially if you make it w/ skim or h2o.
