Hey buddy! How's things?

Listen...I have a question for you. We've all heard of S.A.D. and how people become lethargic in the Winter months when there's less sunlight and it's cold as balls out. But do people who live in ideal climates (like San Diego) walk around on cloud 9 year round or are they even keeled because they're just used to every day being gorgeous?

Either way I really don't want to experience frigid temps, ice, and snow anymore.

They suck.

Thanks!

Your pal,

Uncle G

On the topic of SAD, I absolutely HATE the heat. I cannot stand the summertime. When it gets over 60 outside I start to get cranky. I become very irritable and uncomfortable. I know it's probably against the grain, but when the weatherman says, "oh it's going to be beautiful out there!" I know he's not talking about 40 and overcast. Is it possible to have a reverse SAD? Maybe I'm just fucked up?

Maybe I'm just fucked up?

I'm no medical expert, but I believe the answer is "yes"!

I think an "ideal climate" is relative. I was depressed living in Florida!! now in Asheville I get a nice winter, milder than when I lived in Canada, it's the best! For me ideal climate is having the four seasons but not too hot of a summer and not too cold of a winter, nothing extreme like Florida or Montreal!! I think people just miss seeing sunny days at some point during winter.

The data states this:

In alaska, 10% of people have seasonal affective disorder
In florida 1%

the real disorder is still uncommon, even in Alaska, where it's night all day during the winter, but it's a lot less common in Florida, where it's nice and sunny and warm all year round.

Move to TN and quit whining. :-)

well, if you have "heat intolerance" it's not impossible that you have an overactive thyroid. If you are miserable, it's something your primary MD could check out. At least if everything is normal, you'll know you were just born to live in Scotland (or Portland).

My friend actually goes to school now i San Diego and he hates the weather. He gets bored of the nice weather, and fires. He says when it rains there's at least 6 fatal accidents on his way to campus because no one knows hoto drive when it's wet. He wants to come back to the Eats Coast because he cant stand it....what a creep.
