I'm sure some of you have foods that you eat that other people find horrendous and simply disgusting. I'm not talking about foods that most people like...(ie- Gvac hates cheese and celery) I'm talking about something that you look at and say to yourself, "I really shouldn't like this at all, but it's too damn tasty not to LOVE!"

Here's is my lunch today:
http://www.richstillwell.com/RF/sardines.jpg

Sardines(canned in olive oil) with Ketchup on an Onion Roll...toasted .

So delicious. But honestly, even the picture of it kinda grosses me out.

What do you eat that you think tastes great but looks or sounds nasty?

mmmm...It really was fuckin' tasty.

Kettle Goulash is the best, almost the only time I will eat beef though I make it with pork when I make it at home. It makes it so tender that it falls apart.

It's actually less fishy than tuna. I suggest that you buy a can of them (in olive oil or in water) next time you're at the market.

It's time we give Sardines a chance. Here's an article for ya.

We used to eat peanut butter, honey and wheat germ sandwiches on homemade whole wheat bread when I was a little kid.

Frankly, without peanut butter I think we'd have starved when I was a kid.

I don't know about "sounding" horrible, but for me the runaway winner with looking horrible and tasting amazing is beef stroganoff. Soljanka - Solyanka Soup

mostly tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, bell peppers, spices and loads of cold cuts chopped up... we used to make it after parties a lot because people would have lots of leftover cold cuts from platters so they would use them in the soup.

It gets topped with some sour cream and lemon sprinkled on.

http://static.flickr.com/2090/1797436085_323a8fb80e.jpg

It's also sold in cans and was very popular in the East as it originates somewhere in Russia.
I only like it when it's made with certain cold cuts/ wursts, some of them are disgusting (like Blutwurst) and I would not touch this.

Yup, I prefer the fine mettwurst...the coarse will have on occasion have a piece of sinew that gets caught in your teeth. There's a local deli who makes their own and its AMAZING. The perfect balance of salt, smoke, fat and whatever other ground snouts or hooves they put into it.

Personally, I'm partial to scones with clotted cream, which was a taste I acquired on a week-long visit to England in 1995.

Someone mentioned beef stroganoff earlier ... and, along the same lines is chicken paprikash, which is also known as chicken paprika hendl.

It's one of my favorite comfort foods ... and I hate chicken.
