Danny vs. Patrice on O&A Today (Monday 3/2)

So i caught the danny patrice argument today, and was a little suprised to see nobody give patrice any back up here. Curious what other people's thoughts are.

Basically-- here's my summary of what happened (i think...feel free to correct me if i got it wrong).

Patrice asked danny to check out a website, and Danny said he didnt want to cuz of the virus potential, but it seemed to me that danny was a little nasty/condescending to patrice. When I heard dannys response, i thought, woah! So it didnt surprise me when patrice called him on it and it blew up into a big fight.

At one point it became about Patrice saying--hey i'm a guest/personality and you're a producer, so you owe me some respect, versus others saying, hey dannys part of the show, you're just a guest.

The Paltalk room erupted with massive anti-patrice sentiment (and a mess of racism). Anyone catch this and have thoughts?

I actually just posted a little while ago in the listening thread that Danny overstepped his boundaries and acted disrespectful towards Patrice. Not only would he never have responded that way to Opie but also not acted up towards Patrice with Opie around.
He may work his ass off as some people say, but he is way too comfortable in his friendship to Ant and his behavior shows.

I heard the beginning and I tured it off, then came back to hear the end. I fucking hate long arguments on either show, it just kills everything going on. Maybe others like that shit but constant on air arguments were the last things I remember about Stern's old FM show when I stopped listening in like 2000.

Anyway, Patrice did bring up an excellent point. If Opie had told Danny to go to that website, he would have without question.

Danny only questioned the move because it wasn't one of his bosses telling him to, and I think he got a little mouthy with a show friend.

Does he think he's above others because he's out of work pals with Anthony? I don't know and I don't care, that's for the people on the inside of the O&A social circle to argue about endlessly without me. But I did agree with Patrice's initial point.

Love Patrice but he brings up race over ANYTHING. That was another reason I tuned away for awhile and came back.

I did not hear or see what went down on PT but I have a feeling that the people there are regulars to the show as well and have grown just as comfortable in their "knowing" Patrice, and since Ant can make these comments they feel like it is acceptable to make them as well.

And I have to say that it is true that Patrice brings up the race and racism on almost every show with Ant, I have listened to a number of Black Phillip shows and it was never a subject on his shows.

I'll have to catch the replay, but I've always wondered about the whole guest/host dynamic. I remember as a little kid my parents told me when visiting someone else's house "Be respectful, we're guests here," which basically means defer to whatever the host's wishes are. When people would visit us, they would tell me, "Be respectful towards the guests," which basically means defer to whatever the guest's wishes are. I guess they were trying to teach me to take the high road, but it left me puzzled as to who should have the upper hand in the guest/host relationship.

I guess I'll have to hear it to decide for myself, but from htg's description it sounds like either party could have diffused the situation by checking their bravado.

It's too bad that a good show was taken over by this nonsense. I thought the conversation was interesting when Ant and Patrice were discussing black actors (namely Tyler Perry and Ice Cube) selling out for "white people money", but the malicious website fight should have, in my opinion, been reined in within a few minutes.

I do think Danny was out of line in this incident, as I can't see Erock or Travis treating a guest in this fashion. I'm probably a bit prejudiced in this opinion, though, as I'm not a big fan of Danny constantly bringing up Top Gun, Back to the Future, and really boring YouTube videos.

As for the reaction in the live room, it's pretty predictable. The majority of people in there these days are just vying for attention from Ant, and anybody with an opposing opinion has to endure a pile-on. Even worse (for me, at least), any new girl is almost immediately run out of the room no matter what she looks like or how big of a fan she is, while a few complete messes are treated as if they were goddesses.

I posted in the listening thread on this already - I think both are at fault although Danny "started it."

As a guest, Danny certainly should have treated Patrice with a lot more respect. They have worked together a lot and probably have somewhat of a friendship. IMO that lead to Danny being snarky when he should have been more polite and deferential to Patrice as an invited guest of the show.

However, Patrice blew it up a lot bigger than it should have been. He also pulled the race card, which really didn't seem to have any place in the argument. I can easily see Danny doing the same thing to Vos, Bob Kelly, or one of the other regulars - not that it is right, but that the treatment isn't focused on Patrice specifically or because of his race.

I'm not a big fan of Patrice. I just can't take him seriously, because he always acts like he is better than everyone. And when he is called out on his shit he mostly will start screaming and get real loud and bring up racisms or turn it around to be like "why are you being so offensive/defensive" etc.

That being said, I thought he was right about what he said to Danny. Danny, to me, comes off as an arrogant douchebag. He tries way too hard to be like Opie or Anthony, and thinks that he is fourth mic for some reason. He's gone as far to email me personally when I've called him out on his "act" via Instant Feedback. This is the first I'm hearing about this, but I have absolutely noticed an enormous anti-Patrice movement amongst the fans, and yes, these knuckle-dragging funion-smelling shitbags usually resort to racism the first chance they get. I suppose a knuckle dragging funion smelling shitbag could become a racial slur someday, but I hate those people.

Anyhow, the anti-Patrice movement is pretty commonplace amongst the O&A listening audience. I find that they tend to side with the white guy over the girl or ethnic minority, and all that. Times ten if the white guy is someone who's been on the show more than 3 times before.

I will also say that Patrice has kind of been spinning his wheels as an entertaining guest-host for the better part of a year. You see folks, talking non-stop about the same topic over and over again makes CCC not wanna listen to ya regardless of whether you're a white guy talking about black guys or vice versa. The Tony C 2008 formula of politics banter is boring to me. So the fans might have been picking up on that vibe too.

I don't think Danny treated Patrice any different than he treats anyone else, other than O&A and Jimmy, with no respect.

Basically-- here's my summary of what happened (i think...feel free to correct me if i got it wrong).

Patrice asked danny to check out a website, and Danny said he didnt want to cuz of the virus potential, but it seemed to me that danny was a little nasty/condescending to patrice. When I heard dannys response, i thought, woah! So it didnt surprise me when patrice called him on it and it blew up into a big fight.

At one point it became about Patrice saying--hey i'm a guest/personality and you're a producer, so you owe me some respect, versus others saying, hey dannys part of the show, you're just a guest.

The Paltalk room erupted with massive anti-patrice sentiment (and a mess of racism). Anyone catch this and have thoughts?
