Why anyone would want to work in radio right now, I have no idea.

Wait, Intern David was CSB?

Seriously, the only success story I've heard from CSB is Beningo, and the story behind that is that Joe went to CSB only after he made contacts at WFAN. It's not like he went to CSB and was magically handed the WFAN gig.

I've only worked with one person who graduated from CSB, and the only reason she got a job where I worked after the fact is because she was noticed for her great rack.

Especially since they just had a media buy on WFAN.

I think they overexpanded, but I'm trying to figure out how they got out of business. They are a radio trade school, not a radio station. They rely on tuition, not ad dollars. If one school was struggling, you'd shut it - not all 26.

THere's more to this story.

I still don't know why we let them work at all.

We're back from the war. Enough already.

CSB is the biggest load of crap in the world. You can learn more about working in radio - and getting your foot in the door - by doing an internship and working your ass off.

A friend of mine started with me as an intern. She worked her ass off for 3 years, and she finally worked her way up to her first full-time gig. All with the same company.

How did it work out for you?

Wasn't this school just basically a joke school like the University of Phoenix, Blaine School of Beauty, ITT Tech, or Rutgers?

How did it work out for you?

Funny story. You should wait for the book.

I miss radio, but my bank account doesn't.

Every time I hear Dave complaining about money on the air, I cringe - because I've been there. I know what it feels like. That's what powered my decision to get out of the business.

It worked out OK for J Dubs. And he didn't even pay!

I didn't phrase that right. I hired her as an intern when I was full time.

It kinda of depends.

I'm sure they teach you a lot of stuff, but it's the same kind of stuff you'd learn if you interned at a station.

I applied there, but I think they wanted like, 7k for a 16 week course.

Internships are free, except for the college credit you pay for.

University of Phoenix is actually for real. My sister took 2 courses with them to satisfy requirements for her masters in special ed with University of Illinois.

Shocked me too.

University of Phoenix is huge. Especially in, well, Phoenix. I mean, they have enough money to name a stadium.

They are a for-profit commercial enterprise and are almost exclusively virtual. corporate HQ is in Phoenix(apparently they will rent space in an office bldg...occasionally). They are traded as Apollo Group on the NYSE.

The stadium is just a naming deal like CitiField.

I didn't say a college team played there. I said they had enough money to name a stadium.

Beningo won some contest where they gave callers a show or something way back when. he used to call alot and just dominate the hosts. So yea, after his contest show, they kinda sent him to learn how to use everything and gave him a gig

Their "Campuses" are usually rooms or floors office buildings.

As for the stock... Stocks like Apollo and DeVry (DV) do very well in a poor economy as people look to get new skills. It's only a few shares, but I bought DeVry in 2003-2004 @ 15 closed today @ 44. But then again most of my SEP was in AIG. So what the hell do I know?

The more I learn what happened to AIG, the more I facepalm myself. It seems to me that every single piece of the business was strong as hell except for that rogue group that most of the company didn't know what the fuck they were doing, and that one group destroyed the entire business.
