Fidelity to the source material doesn't mean it'll be a good movie. Quite a few good adaptations have departed wildly from the novel they were based upon.

It was the problem I had with "Sin City", which Paul O compared this to: it just put the comic book up on the screen, so the experience is like reading a comic book than watching a movie.

The problem for U2 is that everytime they've realistically gambled with their sound, they've sucked balls.

KnoxHarrington
03-06-2009, 09:00 AM
I think Dave's kind of right: U2 did a trio of really experimental records, to declining returns: Achtung Baby, then Zooropa, then Pop. At that point, rather than accept a lower profile, they went back to the Big Rock Sound. And it's kind of stale.

KnoxHarrington
03-06-2009, 09:01 AM
The '80s were a great decade for music if you look past the shitty hair bands and what was played on radio and MTV. Mission of Burma, Fugazi, the Replacements, Husker Du...on and on. Read "Our Band Could Be Your Life.'

"She lives in a house of prostitution, your honor."

Trivia about that scene: the judge is played by former porn star Veronica Hart, who lost custody of her own children due to her involvement in porn.

I don't think Hammett took anything from Eddie... their styles aren't similar at all.

Why is Dave wasting his time doing a radio show with Sam? I like the dynamic between him & Hicks so much better.

Actually, just not that big a fan of coddled boys with high-pitched voices.

Have you heard the Ron and Fez show in the last 2-3 years? It happens. Fez struggles with personal issues (closeted sexuality, heart issues, mother issues) and he freezes on the air sometimes. We struggle with him.
