While trying to raise money for multiple sclerosis research, a classmate of mine asked if I had ever heard of reiki. I did some research when I got home from school today, but I'm still not quite sure if it's something that really works.
Do any of you have any experience?

No clue budday, sorry.
Reiki? I Rove It!
But seriously, I found this:
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

when my mom was in the worst of her chemo for bone cancer, and was experiencing probably the worst pain of her life, she did both acupuncture and reiki at a holistic clinic.
she had up days and down days but she always felt more energy after the reiki sessions...
from my experience....it's a practice that focuses on the area just outside of the body... hands never touching the skin but rather working with the energies that are emitted from the person. drawing the toxins out and encouraging healing by stimulating certain points.
there are many online resources for it... if you do a bit of research i am sure you will get a better explanation.
it IS holistic... so you have to go into it with an open mind...but for some, it can be therapeutic. so i suggest looking further into it.

I have a very open mind. Especially when it comes to medicine. There are Eastern philosophies that have stayed for thousdands of years. They have to be doing something right.
