This shouldn't be a question.
Both are great for different reasons and different uses.
It should really be something along the lines of pickle-barrel pickles versus the crap in the jar, except for Batampte brand. Those are good pickles.

not only great pickles...they have really good kraut, and other pickled stuff like tomatoes, olives etc.

That looks awesome.
I'm a big fan of Rick's Picks (http://rickspicksnyc.com/order.php) myself. I bought the Smokra at the Union Square Greenmarket this past December (oh yum! they lasted about a week) and a jar of the Mean Beans (which I have yet to try ... but they may be hors d'ouvres at our hoped-for housewarming open-house once the weather warms up.)

WRONG.
Bread-and-butter pickles are disgusting no matter what temperature you serve them.
