Every one wants to call me a conservative but every vote now is a wasted vote for either party

Seems to be the trend.

I think the republicans are going to have to do what the democrats did back when they basically stole the populists platforms. They have to do that with the libertarians.

You are seeing the libertarians (the Goldwater wing) starting to leave the party en masse as they've had it with the religious right.

Every political party at its very nature is an unnatural marriage...but this marriage really seems to be headed for a divorce.

Get involved. The independents will go nowhere without support and organization.

i registered Republican when i was 18, but i haven't voted for a major party candidate in any presidential election.

i've usually 'wasted' my vote on no-name candidates with goals related to science & technology. too bad none of them have the giant war chests that the Dems & Reps have, and they don't get a single minute of media coverage.

I am a registered independent.I tend to lean to the left only because the country has swung so far to the right.Who knows?Maybe in 4 years I'll be leaning to the right.

Nahhhh.I can't stand the over zealous fanatically religious types that have hijacked the republican party.Bring back Barry Goldwater.

Theres a good documentary on Goldwater it was on HBO called Mr Conservative. He had a lot of the republican characteristics like smaller gov't and strong national defense but he never was too fond of the evangelicals who have hijacked the party.
