Does Tina Fey sell her "sex appeal"?

Ron and Fez were talking about this earlier today, and it got me thinking.

Ronnie B was saying that chicks like Tina Fey and others are sexy, but they don't sell there sex appeal.
I love Tina Fey. Loved her on SNL, she's great on 30 Rock, and a hilarious writer and comedian.
But I think she does sell her image.
I think that she knows she's pretty. She has to. But the whole act of "I eat so much junk food", or "Why do I always look like shit", is basically her game
It seems like the same thing as when someone is playing a game and losing, they'll say "I Suck" so people in the room "NOO!!!! You're great".

I don't want to seem like I'm confusing Liz Lemon and Tina Fey, but it's a character written by her, based on her, and she's playing it. I don't dislike her at all, but to say she doesn't sell her sex appeal is crazy.
Same way Olivia Munn pretends to like video games and Star Wars.

Ever since I saw the E! Documentary about Saturday Night Live (which was a commercial for their airings of reruns of SNL) and heard them describe the newcommer, Tina Fey, as funny (in stark contrast to any other SNL female cast member including Gilda Radner) I have noticed that members of the media make it a point to mention how funny Tina Fey is.

She is a professional comedian and people have to make it a point to talk about how funny she is. You might hear male comedians described as "funny-man" or "the hilarious" but Tina Fey gets this incredibly condescending, maybe-she-is-dying-of-cancer kind of praise that I have never heard associated with any other professional humorist.

Because... you know... she is soooooo funny. She is just clever and she is never late for work... I'll tell you. And that Sara Palin impression is just so funny.

I like Tina Fey. But I hate her way that people speak about her comedy like she is doing something contrary to her paid profession.

Actually... Mean Girls was more of a vehicle for Tiny Fey than anyone.
When they originally cast Lindsay, she was supposed to be Regina but after they auditioned Rachel McAdams, they asked Lindsay to switch parts and she agreed, thus becoming the lead.

The movie was very successful in launching a number of careers, most notably Lohan. But at the same time it helped to really establish Fey as a quality writer which opened doors for her in a big way.

On topic... she is a funny person first. Then sexy. But she doesn't let her sexy side dictate who she is. I think that is the key. She is ok with "making herself ugly" for a role or a skit... total commitment to the absurd. That seems to be what she is about... and it is working perfectly for her.
