A coworker said his wife was able to get his text transcripts from the cell phone company. She even forwarded one of them to her phone. Can they really do that, and do ALL companies offer this? I have nothing to hide from anyone, but someone I talk to does.:help:

He said it was the actual texts that he had deleted from his phone. She was able to read the content and forward it to her phone.

I've since told my friend to limit certain "topics" to other means of communication.

Maybe the phone is in her name or something. I didn't ask.

those services are for people to retrieve their own lost messages. Without a court order, its illegal for them to give you info on phones on other accounts

i was told you could not get transcripts of text messages. my chicks ex boyfriend was sending her a lot of threatening texts for awhile and a lawyer friend of mine said to make sure to document everything. cuz her phone only saved like 20 messages at a time, she couldn't keep them on her phone. we went to verizon and the guy said it wasn't possible to do. i guess he didn't know shit.

That's interesting to know. I'm going to have to find out what service the guy has. I'm also going to ask him whose name the phone is in. The friend of mine that has something to hide has AT&T.

That would defeat the purpose of keeping her texts secret now, wouldn't it?

Any way ya slice it, I don't a record of the text CONTENT gets stored anywhere. Maybe a record that a text was sent from this # to that # but, the words themselves.... np way.
I think a MILLION arrests would be made every year based on texts (and emails) that are sent from phones. I can't think of one time that a criminal was arrested based on damning info that authorities were able to magically retrieve from long-deleted texts.

the texts are stored for i think 6 months by the phone company. But the cops cant access those without a court order. Dont any of you fools watch the wire?

I asked him about it again today. He has Verizon and it's in his wife's name. She did get the content of the texts. If the phone had been his own name, she couldn't have gotten it.

Next question, Why did she get his texts? Was he being a naughty boy or is she just the suspicious type?

The phone companies are mandated to keep "transcript" records for 6 months. Most times it would take a court order to get them.
I know this due to law enforcement people I know, who have used these in cases.
The FBI also monitors "KEY" words, as they contacted the sheriff's department to tell them the person who texted about sending a bomb threat at a school. In fact 2hrs after the bomb threat, the FBI called the department and said, gave them the name of the owners of the phones who were texting about it.

I'm a private investigator, and it's possible. You have to know some people, or lie, or be on the same plan, but it's possible.
My advice... Use prepay phones. No contract, no trace. So whether it's you or the person you're talking about. Get one of these.
