It is a known fact that if you bring yourself physically close to someone, they will react by moving themselves beyond. Where they were. If someone is going slow, if you get on their ass, they will excelerate to widen that gap. Because they do this, a tailgater is making sure the slowpokes remember that they are on the highway and not some side street. Its been also proven that no one ever got anywhere any quicker by going slow.

My car sits low to the ground, is not terribly wide, and my windows are not tinted. If you are behind me, you should be able to clearly see what is in front of me.

If you are tailgating behind me, thinking that it will push me up to tailgating the vehicle ahead of me, and somehow clear the entire lane for yourself... think again.

Sure, if I'm in the left lane, and there is a clear quarter mile of emply lane in front of me? Then yes, I'm the douche, and tailgate away. (Which never happens, btw)

But if see that there's a vehicle a few car lengths ahead of me... and no where for me to go? Then you should realize that *I* AM NOT THE ONE SLOWING THE LANE DOWN, FUCKHOLE!

GET THE FUCK OFF MY ASS, OR RISK DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF YOUR VEHICLE!

If you have cars in front of you, then that's just traffic. I totally agree, get off my ass.

It's the passive aggressive fucks in the left lane going the speed limit (not you, as you've stated) that actually cause accidents.

If you tailgate I hate you as well.Also if you speed up when I go to pass you,if you pass me and then slow down,if you jam your brakes and slow down below the speed limit when you see a cop,if you don't know how to fucking merge onto a highway and expect me to speed up or slow down for you,if you drive for 74 miles with your blinker on,if you drive slower than traffic in the fast lane,if you jump from lane to lane during a traffic jam being a nuisance without gaining any forward ground,if you pull off of the shoulder into highway traffic going 15 mph,and if you have a 1992 Caprice Classic with 26" rims on it.

I once stopped in Oklahoma at a rest stop to sleep for the night. I heard a rushing sound of wate from behind the woods amd fence line. I checked my map and noticed there was a waterfall there.

I went to investigate.

Apon following the fence line I came to a GATE. The gate was festooned with feathers rocks, herbs and a goats TAIL. As well as two dead animals laying before it.

It freaked me the hell out.

Needless to say I did not see the falls that evening, nor sleep at that rest area in Oklahoma.

OK so we're talking driving tailgating here... not the sports tailgating... OP was unclear :nono:

I used to tailgate like nobody's business. Nowadays I slow it down and keep a decent distance between me and whoever's in front. I'll still go 20mph over the speed limit if I have the room, and I'll get out of the way of anyone wanting to go faster IF I CAN. Sometimes there's this small problem of there being other cars in the right lane that keeps me hemmed in the left and another driver in front of me who isn't passing all of the right lane cars. Ditto for when there's someone clearly ahead of me who isn't moving very fast- tailgating me will not accomplish much for you. AND IF YOU TAILGATE ME WHILE I'M IN THE RIGHT LANE AND THERE'S SPACE IN THE LEFT FOR YOU TO PASS ME- WHY HAVEN'T YOU FORGOTTEN HOW TO BREATHE YET?

So if you're riding my ass when I can't do anything about it, remember that if there's a fuckup, it's your car engine vs. my rear fender. Even if your engine won, you still lose.

what i hate is driving thru fairly open westchester side-streets, with limited traffic lights, speed limit of 30 and cars doing 25. there's really no need to go under 40-45 ever there.

and if it's a highway with 3 or more lanes, sure left is for passing, but if it's a parkway or such with only two lanes there's no difference between the two. what, every other car but yours is going to be in the right-hand lane? no.

Don't be obtuse.The left lane on a two lane road is the passing lane.If you are impeding traffic in the left lane you are a douche.If you travel outside of the tri state area you will see signs all over the country that say "Slower traffic keep right".By saying that both lanes are the same you are admiting to being part of the problem.
