today started out pretty bad. this morning when i got home from work my chick told me the sink was starting to get backed up and i told her i would take a look at it when i got up in the afternoon. got up about 3 and took a look and just saw a little bit of waster in the bottom of the sink. i thought i could do a few other things first and left it alone for the time being.
as i was enjoying a smoke before getting to the sink, i heard the girls in the apartment above us start to use their sink. all of a sudden i heard gargling in my sink and then it completely overflowed onto the counter and the floor. it was one of the worst smelling things i have ever had to deal with. i was late to work waiting for roto rooter to get there.
now, i am up at work and one of my bosses came through and said because of budget cuts, they were going to have to cut some hours. i am only working now a minimum of 24 hours a week and some weeks i was lucky enough to get 36. i was barely making it by on that because i had some money saved in the bank. my hours now are cut back to 16 hours every other weekend.
im fucked. i had been trying to find a new job but no one is fucking hiring. so now im gonna have to take any god damned job i can find. i thought i had to be penny pinching before, now its just gonna be rediculous.
not looking for sympathy, just need to vent. :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Ughs, I'm sorry to hear this jz. Not much I can tell you except keep your chin up and get your name out there, network, do whatever you have too, never know when someone will bite. In the meantime, you have your girl and your mom to lean on for emotional support till things pick up, which they will! Let me know how things work out.

keep your head up and keep slug'n. theres alot of us on the cusp. i may lose everything house, buisness, and to top it off i have to go thru court to gain possession of my daughter after the death of her mother. some interloper thinks he should raise her be cause he was married to my ex once.... and that i should pay him child support to do it. our legal system is fabulous. (yes there is more to that story, just typing w/thumbs) anyways. either everything going to fly towrds success or... crash to failure. frightning and exciting at the same time. even if we fail, we can succeed. prayers all around.
how about that new civilian army obama wants ?

i was teaching but i lost that job. long story. the entire time i thought my teaching certification was going through the state, it wasn't. turned out UB never sent my stuff to the state because i was missing an "art" requirement an adviser never told me about. i have a ba in history and an ed.M in education, but i can't teach because i was short one class that will have no affect on my work in a classroom. wonderful state requirements.
currently working at a "gated" community. overnight security detail. i press the gate button when cars come through. it blows, but it was making it by. i was trying to save to put towards a class for that requirement, but this is another blow to that.
there is some silver lining to this though. when my boss told me this he also told me that i will be getting a full time job (with some overtime) for the "summer season" at this community. i just have to find something to make ends meet until that job kicks in.

not necessarily a bad thing....
if you don't already have one, start a budget. call all companies you use and ask them how they can offer you a better plan/ rate... my friend did that when she got laid off, safed 50% for car insurance, got a different tv package with some free months, cell phone plan was optimized and other things reduced... she put in a grocery budget and sticks to it... they are saving a whole lot.
if you haven't already call xm to cancel, they will give ya the year for half the price.

all good tips, thank you. i don't have cable or internet (leech off my neighbors) at my place so that's nothing to worry about.

you have dumb or generous neighbors... mine all secured theirs over the past years...lol
I called my own car insurance already cause I am being laid off soon so I started planning to cut corners... since my car is paid for and "old" I am taking it down to minimum coverage for a while, and since I won't drive to work they reduce the rate to a leisure rate rather than commuter rate...
did the xm deal, switched dsl providers... anything to reduce fixed monthly expenses

that's great, I would love to share mine with someone to split the cost... it's a townhouse but we are all attached.
And on the bright side, at least you did not have to hold the elevator for anyone today
since we were throwing in show references

I hope things get better! I definitely hear ya on the job situation. I was without a job for the first time in years in NY and didn't find one till I moved to PA and had to tell them I could not work for them. They had hired me before the business was up and running and they were just months behind.
So now I've been looking for jobs. Luckil this place somes with cable but we def. had to cancel our cable in our last place. It's amazing how many little things can save you so much money.

Good thing is your not going through this by yourself and even though the hours are shit your still getting a check. The check doesn't equal peace of mind but remember you only truly catch a loss when you are utterly alone. Peep this little song by Cam'ron its a good get by song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWQWTZVWVZs. Best advice I could throw your way is just surround yourself with your best buds and family and just deal with things on a daily basis together.
