I'm feeling really happy lately. I got some pretty good news earlier in the evening, so that really helped. This year is going to be good, I think!

Yeah, I'm somewhat sad. I dunno if I'd say sad really, as much as just...I dunno...not happy.

I mean, it's like, you think you're in a bad way, and then you think about everyone with problems so much bigger than whether you have a girlfriend or not, or if you have a few bucks in the bank, and then you really realize how lucky you are that you aren't forraging through a dumpster hoping to find a piece of cardboard that might shield you from the wind as you try and sleep on a concrete sidewalk.

A friend sent me an email tonight wondering if I was doing ok. And when I put my worries and complaints into perspective, all I could say was "Yeah, I guess I am".

So before you think you're having a shitty day, or that life sucks, consider the person that has to rely on a newspaper for a blanket in 2 degree weather.

P.S.
This post in no way counteracts the normal sarcastic, cynical attitude I normally have. It was just a moment of reality that hit me, nothing more.

Really, really awful for a while now, and as much as I try to take the perspective Skidmark does, it passes after a little while, and I fall back into the same sadness. Oh well, let's hope it ends soon...

I was feeling great after 3 months on Paxil, but I fucked up and forgot my meds 3 days in a row, and now the depression hit me BIG TIME. Crying for no reason and crap like that. Never EVER miss your meds!

I've felt like that for the last 29 years. My shrink wanted me to try out an anti-depressant, but I'm really scared to try it and i'm hoping i can be "cured" without it

Thanks everyone.
I totally completely agree/understand what you're saying.

I don't usually get depressed in the winter, just get "the blues" and I get really irritable and angry.

Although I do get depressed around xmas. Especially Xmas night... I feel really, really lonely.

When I posted this I felt like something was wrong or something bad was going to happen soon. I get minor panic attacks occassionally, but they are usually brought on by something, this wasn't.

I hope everyone feels better... I know I don't know you, but some of you show regulars "I know" even though I've never met you.

Melissa? You're sad? I was under the impression that you were always content and nothing really bothered you. I hope you feel better... you have to feel better because everyone on the board needs it.. "Uhhh, you don't know how bad WE need it." sorry, couldn't resist the lame joke.

Everyone feels down now and then.

It's not unusual to feel this way around the holidays. We have an idealized picture of what the holidays should be and reality never meets our expectations.

Your preminition of doom are not surprising with the grim realities we are confronting post 9/11. The fear and knowledge that "something" else will eventually happen hangs upon our heads like the Sword of Damocoles.

Again, it's not unusual to feel down in this climate. The feelings will probably change on their own. If they do not, consult your local mental health therapist.
