Last night on the ABC News show "What Would You Do?", they set up senario to see how bothered people in a bar would be by 2 gay guys being openly affectionate with each other.
At least according to the show, most people were fine with it, even with a set-up homophobe trying to rile people up. How do you feel about PDAs same-sex or otherwise?

It really depends on how "into it" the couple is. I see nothing wrong with pecks and small kisses..

But total making out in public...It doesn't matter if it's same sex or not, I don't really want to see it.

It doesn't bother me. I'm not a big fan of excessive PDA by either couple types straight or single sex. The old "get a room" thing.

It doesn't bother me.

However, what does bother me is early in the morning, on the PATH when two couples are sooooooo in luuuuuuuuuv that they have to make little baby faces and noises at each other and smooch every five seconds all while standing up against me. It happens more than I'm comfortable with and I want those couples to have their faces bashed in with a fire extinguisher.

Can you keep your hands off each other for 10 minutes, please?

If an act would get a PG-13 rating in a movie, then it shouldn't be done in public. I'm assuming excessive making out would be grounds for PG-13.

During the day when people are acting civilized everyone should keep it to a minimum.

You're not fat, you're preggers.

BIG difference!

(Not that I'm implying that the weight all disappears after the baby's born or anything like that, but it's just not fair to have you calling yourself fat when you're not really.)

I'm inclined to agree with Jersey Rich's opinion. Small shows of affection (seeing someone arrive, seeing someone leave, holding hands, etc) not really much of a problem.

If it's "hot and heavy" then I would be a little uncomfortable.

AKA
03-25-2009, 06:33 AM
Depends on circumstances of where it was, how much it was, and if it was directly effecting or involving other people to be part of it. A couple of dudes holding hands or even sharing a public kiss wouldn't bother me any more than a man and woman.

I also caught part of that show last night, and was pretty horrified at the "baby napping" that was going on. What the fuck were people thinking?! Sheeeeeh. Only one person resisted, but even he cracked and agreed to help steal another person's child without checking with the authorities.

Don't these retards have cell phones? Call 9-1-1 and get police back up there.

It's a cutesy shorthand for pregnant.

I found listings in Urban Dictionary for it when I Googled, but don't have the time or inclination to check the O.E.D. for that.

I was at the mall with the wife and kids this weekend and we were looking for a particular store so we walked to the nearest mall directory board. This was at what must have been an out of the way, and little used, mall entrance which must be the place where the teenage mallrat couples go to make out.

There were two couples (about 14-16 years old) going at it pretty hot and heavy. The girls had their backs pressed against the wall and the guys were pretty much grinding against them as they made out. The funny thing is that there was this other nerdy kid there without a girl - we'll just call him "Little Todd H." for want of a better name. He was just staring at the floor waiting for them to be done.

Now, I'm a ball-buster and I know exactly what I would have done in a normal circumstance. I probably wouldn't have avoided them but actually overtly started to stare at them (I've done it in the past to hetero AND gay couples) until they were the ones to feel uncomfortable and move on. But, as I mentioned I had the kids with me and I didn't want to explain to my 8 year-old daughter if "those boys were hurting those girls in some way." So, I just distracted the kids and whisked them off in the direction of the Disney Store.

I know what you mean- this one time I pulled over this young girl for speeding and made her show me how she took care of her boyfriend while I , well, you know, all over the side of her car door.

Basically I agree with Rich. I don't mind kissing but when that moves to making out and feeling each other up it makes me uncomfortable. I've heard it's a problem on planes with couples putting a blanket over their laps and giving each other favors. I would NOT want to be sitting in a row next to that.

When my husband and I were young and going out we went to Disney with his family. We were pretty touchy-feely and always pecking each other, holding hands, etc. and his dad warned us not to do that if we could help it. He grew up in a different time and with me being white and him being black he didn't want to piss off the wrong person that was against inter-racial couples. It was weird as I had never even thought about that. Then I got really self concious about being affectionate in public.

Cutesy doesn't mean it can't be annoying. Cutesy, versus cute, implies a vague current of irritation ... deliberately, cram-it-down-the-gullet cute versus genuinely cute.

Lots of annoying things started out because someone, somewhere, thought it was cutesy.

This show is total shit. I saw one where a store owner was asking black people to leave a fine boutique to see what bystanders would try to stand up for them. ABC is trying to act like if you aren't butting into everyone's business, you're racially insensitive.

Pretty much.

My boyfriend and i drove 6 hours to Penn State to see a concert and we had to sit in front of a couple (college crowd) who were going at it like the fucking building was on fire.

I'm not a prude and maybe the fact that i drove 6 hours and didn't want to see a pending abortion was more of the issue.

So i guess my stance is more of "i don't care" unless it's really in my personal space, hard to ignore.
