Why do they urge sterilization of Downs syndrome people? How high is the chance of 2 Downs people having a Downs baby?
What about People born Deaf? What are the odds of a deaf baby?
Two Born Blind?
What about lumpy nutsacks? Is it higher if the person's name is Gvac?- Just kidding on that one.
But on the others always wondered...........

Down syndrome kids are often sterilized because their parents don't think they're capable of raising children, and they're concerned that they can be sexually exploited. As human beings, people with Down Syndrome certainly deserve the right to "emotionally satisfying and culturally appropriate sexual expression."
Down syndrome is a genetic problem. People with they syndrome have 3 copies of the 21st chromosome (trisomy 21). The original term for Down Syndrome was "mongolian idiocy" which, thanks to the "euphemism treadmill" has become an offensive label.
In one study of a few down syndrome pregnancies, Thirty pregnancies of 26 affected mothers resulted in 10 children with Down syndrome, 18 children (1 set of twins) without Down syndrome, and 3 spontaneous abortions.
I couldn't find any data for two down syndrome parents...it may be out there somewhere and if I find it, I'll repost.
The whole congenital blindness and deafness thing has to do with whether the problem is genetic. If it's not, two people, say, who are blind will have children who are sighted at the same rate as the "normal" population.

Thanks..I neglected the "obvious" reasoning..I actually was wondering because I saw an 80's TV movie on it..same as the Deaf/Blind question..(the deaf one starred John Boy from the Waltons)..
And I had a duh moment too..I think that Helen Keller had 2 normal offspring.
