My car got Shot!

I came out this morning and saw my car window was shattered. I called my insurance company and arranged for the glass to be fixed because I have glass coverage. I brought the car to a safe location so that no one tampers wih it while I await the repair. I have two cars, so its not a problem. When I came back, I saw a few other cars on the block also had broken windows. someone suggested I call the police to file a report. But I did not do so because I figure what good will it do? Would you call the police? I just wanted the car out of there as fast as possible so no one fucks with it. I figure the police are useless anyway to stop this shit. Would it have made any difference? If I tried to get the car back there again. It would be a pain in the ass because I got a ride back home after I dropped it off. Suggestions? Advise? The insurance covers it with no out of pocket expense.

It was the side window behind the drivers window, not the windshield. Also, the other cars were also the side windows. The whole is perfectly small and it shattered the entire window. The other cars were shattered and the windw fell in. Not mine. Its weird, I park next to a firehouse parking lot and there is always cops in there. If I see a cop I will mention it.

assholes decided to go around whitestone with a bb gun a few years ago. they shot out my back window & all 3 side windows of the durango i had back then. they also did it to a lot of other cars over a few nights. i had to call the police & file a report right away for geico & then they basically took care of everything.

bonus was that the glass guy replaced my side view mirror that had been broken for a year or two already. he just added it to the claim.

I don't care enough to take the door apart and get them out, but it is annoying.

This was behind my frat house where cars have a tendency to get unlawfully entered so the campus pd was pretty good about patroling the area. Half inch across for a bb is pretty large.

Bb's are around 0.177 inches.

When you shoot a car window you can break and shatter the entire window. If lucky one should COULD take out the entire window.

Like a firefighter breaking a window with the special tool they have. (you push this item against the glass and it spring loaded to shatter glass.

Are you windows tinted? that would help A TON.

alos most of the time in this state if you file a report and it is vandalism your deductible is 0. State law here in IL.

A windshield is very hard to break out of a car. even jumping and kicking its still difficult.
But yes a bb gun will be able to get through a windshield depending on range. sounds like the kids were driving by shooting the cars. So they would have to been somewhat close.

Lucky you didnt have the window fall into the car. its a pain to clean the glass out and very painful if you get cut.

A good one using pellets instead of BBs can deliver enough energy to penetrate the first layer of glass then shatter the second layer.

mt favorite part of the story was that my father was sitting outside for about a half hour with the car directly across the street without even noticing that all the dark tinted windows were gone. it wasn't until a cop randomly drove by & noticed & asked him if that was his car.

At least 18 car windows in Elmont, Valley Stream and Franklin Square were shot out with BB gun pellets Friday night and Saturday morning, Nassau County police said.

The assailants apparently traveled northeast beginning around 9:30 p.m. from Central Avenue in Valley Stream to Hempstead Turnpike and then north on Courthouse Road into Franklin Square.

"Additionally, detectives report car windows were also damaged in the New Hyde Park area," police said in a statement.

I doubt it. It must have been kids on a joy ride with a BB bun and a shi load of BBs. The other car that got hit was maybe 20 feet behind me

The other cars looked dead center too, so this person had skill. The window satyed intact in ny car for a while, and then like an idiot, I opened the door to put a black plastic garbage bag "just in case" over the glass so rain wouldn't get in, and as I close the door, the glass falls in all over the seat. in my experience, a CO2 gun is not all that powerful (compared to the classic daisy 10 pumper)after about 5 or 6 shots, and mexi brought up a good point about the diameter or the hole. another good point was whether or not it was a BB or a pointed pellet.

either way i think the police would like to know if shit was was getting shot up around town.

if it were me i'd sit out front in the dark, wait for the fucks to come back and put a slug through their door with my mossberg.

even a .22 would have went through the car, I have shot up enough cars to know. Thru one window out the other.

I was standing next to a kid as he accidentally shot a car window with a BB gun, it can easily break it.

I would have called the cops. A frequency of crime or vandalism in that area would alert them to keep an eye out and increase patrols. You're not gonna get your money for your window but you could hopefully help get the jackoff who did it in the future.

I will second that. Most Co2 powered bb/pellet guns are pretty weak.

The pump rifle are the BEST. cept that you have to single load a pellet. But there is a area for a bunch of bbs.

If you have been shooting for a while you can get pretty quick at it.

I would buy two magazined pellet co2 powered pistols. then shoot them up with those.

better yet paintball. that way you KNOW the car. covered in pink!

I have often been told that a sparkplug will shatter a car window with a tap..never tried it..that said..we have a tool in ems, fire, and police, that looks like a pen and shatters windows very easily..we could get them from any EMS/FIRE/POLICE outfitter for about 5 bucks.
